January 1, 2018 By Shelley Zurek 295 Comments

THE CHOICE HAS BEEN MADE! Top Specialty Food of the Year 2017

Top Specialty Food of the year 2016 Daves Killer Bread Good Seed

As you know, each year I name a Top Specialty Food of the Year. Last year our Top Specialty Food of the Year 2016 was Dave’s Killer Bread–Good Seed Bread. Now, they don’t know who I am and have never sent me anything. I just discovered Dave’s Good Seed bread on my own at my local Sam’s club. Visit the review here to discover why I and my whole family are still hooked on this marvelous bread.

Dave's Killer Bread Good Seed

The base of the spreads is organic sesame seeds that is slowly ground in stone wheels for hours, with dates, carob, figs and beets. These spreads are vegan, paleo, and don’t contain any gluten, preservatives, dairy, nuts or added sugar. They are an incredible substitute for peanut butter. I love all the varieties that I have tried and I am sure I would enjoy them all! Flavors include:

I like the Gourmet Basket dried fruits and nut. I can eat the nuts by themselves but I chose this because I have never had dried kiwi or apricot which is dried turkish apricot.

I’d have to go with the Sherpa Pink Himalayan Salt, 2lbs Extra-Fine Grain – I’ve heard it’s good? Seen it on cooking shows and the like. Plus… it’s one of the few things in that section that actually interests me lol 🙂

I love the Sherpa Pink Himalayan Salt- we use pink Himalayan salt all the time (including Pink Himalayan Salt Plates (which we usually use for Caprese Salads, but which are great for sushi, too, and even to cook on!), & we have it for our guests on the table as a “finishing salt”, along with many others, such as Red Salt, & Black Salt from Hawaii, salts we’ve brought from overseas, and local WV & Virginia salts! Why? Because it ‘s “foodie” fun! The different salts do have different, subtle flavors, the large crystals seem to impart more flavor (and you use less of it), and they are pretty!
