WILLIAM HELBURN: SEVENTH AND MADISON
WILLIAM HELBURN: SEVENTH AND MADISON($65.00 hardcover, 9780500517659) captures striking fashion and advertising images by the go-to photographer for many of the top agencies in New York during the 1950s and 60s Advertising Revolution.
The reason I wanted to review this book was because the topic is about ’50s and ’60s advertising. I believe this era of advertising is among some of the best this country has ever seen. I eagerly devoured Helburn’s body of work.
As well as cars and cosmetics, Helburn shot Coca-Cola, Canada Dry, whiskeys, clothing lines, airlines, jewelry, cigars and cigarettes, and any number of other products. He worked with the top models of the day, from Dovima and Dorian Leigh to Jean Patchett and Barbara Mullen to Jean Shrimpton and Lauren Hutton.

I think the most exciting aspect of this book is a real life look into the past – the fashion, especially!
I love the full page color photographs. Such a delight for the eyes.
I like that he had a sense of fun when he took photos.
Thanks for the contest.
“Seventh and Madison is the first book to survey the photographic work of William Helburn”. The book looks beautiful.
It would be interesting to take a look at the past through advertising and see how different things are today.
I love everything about the 50’s and 60’s, so this book with all the pictures of that era would be awesome!!
I love that it gives viewers a delicious taste of the vivid reality that the television series Mad Men seeks to evoke
Hello! I like that the book contains photos from a professional fashion photographer. I always enjoy looking at historical fashion and beauty pictures and advertisements. Thank-you for this super fun chance!!
My favorite aspect of the book is that there are so many pictures from the styles in the 50’s & 60’s & I just loved the styles back then! I also love that there will be black-and-white photos included too!
I love “picture books”, particularly history books. I recently read a book about advertising, and this looks fabulous. I think my daughter would love it too
My favorite part of the book is how it features work from the Mad Men era because I’m watching the show right now and falling in love with the era and advertising.
I think the most exciting things is the great reviews it is getting. Reviews are often what I use to determine my next book.
My favorite aspect about the book are the photographs.
I’m thinking with the same photographer that shot photos for Life that this book has amazing pictures!
