Blonde all the Way to the Roots with Madison Reed Root Touch Up

August 27, 2015 By Shelley Zurek 79 Comments

Want to be “Still Blonde?” Madison Reed Root Touch Up

Shelley Zurek Still Blonde after all these Years

When I was young, I was very blonde. Born Blonde. Tow-head Blonde.  As I aged, my hair darkened to a dirty dishwater blonde, and I hated it. As a result, in about the eighth grade, I began a life long process of dying, highlighting, frosting, and coloring my hair.

While I have always loved being “Still Blonde”, sometimes root maintenance is tiring. I really should go in for root touch up every six-eight weeks, but truth be told I usually just go in when my roots get uber scary. Like this!

Mason Reed Root Touch Up

True Confession: I usually don’t make an appointment to get my hair done until the situation is this bad. One big combo of dark roots and gray…ughh! Yet, because of my devil-may-care attitude, I often can’t get into my stylist when I need to (Appointment? What’s THAT?)

Madison Reed Root Touch Up– The Solution?

Recently, Madison Reed contacted me and asked me to write a compensated review about their Root Touch Up powder. I said, “Sure thing!” I am all about trying to find temporary products to cover my roots until I can get into the hair salon. Having tried temporary root sprays, mascaras, and colors, I can tell you I was a tad leery. But I do need a solution when I am in need of a quick hair root touch-up in between coloring appointments…especially if I have a photo shoot I need to get done or an important event to attend!

Root Touch Up: It’s Like Makeup for Hair

I found this Madison Reed Root Touch Up video very informative to quickly explain the process of applying Root Touch Up. From the 1 minute video, I really did see how Root Touch Up is like makeup for hair. What’s your impression?

Madison Reed Root Touch Up — What is it?

Mason Reed Root Touch UP

Madison Reed’s best selling Root Touch Up is a lightweight powder concealer to cover roots and grays. All Madison Reed products are free of the usual chemicals found in many hair color brands so your scalp won’t end up irritated. If you need a quick hair root touch-up, because you forgot to make your hair appointment (like me) or don’t have time to color at home, this easy to use powder is your solution.

Where can I buy Madison Reed Root Touch UP?

You can find all seven shades online at Madison-reed.com and Sephora.com. And now, with an exciting new partnership with Sephora, Madison Reed’s Root Touch Up will be available in Sephora stores for $30 in four shades: Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Light Golden Brown and Auburn Red.

PSST: HURRY right now until 8/31 you can get a complimentary brow brush at checkout, which is valued at $7.95 when your purchase Root Touch Up.  Just use this special URL when you head over to Madison Reed to make your purchase.

I like my gray hair. Have no interest in dyeing it.

Interesting kit and compact. It looks like a make-up compact. I like how easy to use. Does it get on your clothes? Do you still use it at times? We all have those times when we need a touch up but don’t want to or can’t do an actual color, but you do worry about the results and what will happen if you mess up. This looks easy and has a few color choices, too.

Hi Sherry, It does not get on your clothes (in the blonde color at least). The cost is pretty inexpensive and you can always return it to Sephora if you don’t like it. I do still use it at times. The Chief Blonde

How Awesome. This is a much needed product for a lot of us!! I have always been a Blonde Too!! I started dyng my hair young too for the same reason! Dishwater Blonde! Anyhow I always hated the roots to show.. It seems like I dyed it every color from Mint Green to black! Ha! well to make a longer story short As I got older and started turning Gray I just stopped dying it all together. My hair is now naturally silver with light brownish highlights! Everyone loves the color! At least that’s what they tell me!! But my hair is in much better condition and shines like crazy! I felt at my age almost 70 My scalp needed a well reserved rest. My oldest Daughter who is 47 still has her blonde hair she was born with but now she does get it highlighted to help keep it that way! She still wears it long and she looks lovely! Like You! But I wish this product would have been out sooner! I really like it.. 🙂

What a great new idea for root touch up! I’m not familiar with Madison Reed, but Sephora is in our local Mall, so I’m definitely going to try this new product for quick fixes!

I had blonde hair when I was quite young too and, yes, it turned into a dirty blonde I hated. I spent years dying it blonde and dealing with roots. For the past 7 years I haven’t dyed my hair at all and it’s, actually, a nice dark brown color. Weird?! Just over the last couple of years I’m starting to see some grey, so I’ll be using a product like this I’m sure. Thanks for the review and information!

I’m amazed at the color options, so many. Sounds like a great product. My husband loves the colors also, he wants to hide some of his grey. Thanks for sharing.
