Fashion Advice from Your Mom

Fashion Advice for Women over 45

shelley and Mom

The Chief Blonde and her Mom

I wouldn’t say I got all my fashion sense from my mom but there was a lot of great fashion tips she gave me that stuck with me through the years.  Without further ado, here’s the Chief Blonde’s Mom’s Fashion Advice and I am pretty sure that your mom’s advice is similar!

Five Fashion tips from YOUR MOM

1.  It never hurts to dress like your mom sometimes.  (See picture above…this was a total accident…we showed up a restaurant in virtually the same outfit)

2.  Wear a hat.  Hats are very useful you see.  They keep your ears warm and keep your skin from getting burned.

3. Take a jacket.  You can always take a jacket off but if you are freezing and you didn’t bring one then you have a bigger problem.

4. Wear Comfortable Shoes.  HAHAHAHAHA. You KNOW I ignored this one.  See picture below!

5.  Wear Clean Clothes.  This seems like pretty obvious fashion advice but I can’t tell you the number of times I have went and changed my clothes because I could hear my mother’s voice ringing in my ears.

When my mom was still alive, I did not agree with her fashion that much. It was more classic and I was more trendy. Now, that I am older, I always get compliments when I wear something that was hers. It’s a lovely way to honor her memory.

The best advice my Mom gave me isn’t fashion-related…she said, “You better pray about your attitude!”
Love the pics of you & your Mom 😉

Dress for the position you WANT, not the one you have! Also, she said to always try to look cute, not sloppy, it doesn’t matter what anyone else does. ‘You are a Hartford’ she would say.

My mother always said that things would work out for the best. Even though I didn’t want to hear it at the time, she was usually right.

My mom taught me how to love Homemaking and being a mom. That was her goal her entire life. And it is a talent and skill to be learned and I’m so grateful to her for teaching it to me.

My mother always instilled confidence in us so that we could appreciate who we were as a person and feel good about ourselves in whatever endeavor we undertook.

My mom always told me that if you got it flaunt it. That could mean playing up my blue eyes or showing off my legs with a nice pair of heels.
