Easy Heart Healthy Recipes made w/ Top Superfoods List
The Institute for Vibrant Living sponsored today’s discussion and provided me a copy of 15 Heart Healthy Recipes and wants YOU to have a copy as well!

What is a Superfood?
You see the term all the time– Superfood. But do you really understand what the term means? A superfood is a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being. Green foods are often called the super food of the nutrition world because they are packed with so many nutrients. Some fruits and fish have been classified as superfoods as well.
Why do I want to eat Superfoods? Can I be Popeye?
Oh my goodness, I want to be “Super” charged human, don’t you? What’s the point of Superfood? Some say that the term “Superfood” is just a marketing term. Others argue it drives people toward nutrient packed foods and “what can be wrong with that?” Still other maintain that study after study has shown that the best way to take advantage of all of the benefits of food is to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Research has shown that a diet high in plant-based foods helps to lower cholesterol, reduce your risk for heart disease, balance blood sugar levels, promote a healthy weight, and even reduce your risk of cancer.

Thanks for sharing these! I am trying to eat more healthy foods and this is a great help!
You know I have never tried Kale but always wonder what it is like in taste. We are a huge pineapple eating family around here!
Great ideas to incorporate more superfoods into our daily diets. I LOVE some of these foods!
These are some of my favorite foods!! Thanks for putting them all in one place 🙂 Great reference!! I love making a smoothie every day so I’ll have to incorporate some of these ingredients in it!! Get some super foods every day 🙂
I’m all about the superfoods these days. I could live on blueberries.
It’s good to know that I eat most of these foods regularly. Some of them can get a bit boring though so, thanks for the fun “mix it up” recipes. 🙂
I’m glad I love most foods and am not picky. I like almost everything listed among the superfoods. I don’t think I have ever tried Acerola cherries because I am allergic to cherries but other than that I’m good with everything else.
Well, I already love spinach, broccoli and raspberries. That’s about as far as I’ll go to reach for “super foods”. I have no doubt that all the foods listed are good for you. But at this age, I doubt that it’ll suddenly transform me to optimal health. I’ve always been a bit of a skeptic about “health foods” and just continue to eat reasonably well and to avoid any packaged foods.
Spinach, broccoli, green tea, kale, apples, mango, and pineapple are a regular part of my diet. These fifteen superfood recipes sound like a must-have. Thank you for sharing this post.
I am certainly going to print these recipes to try. We have been eating healthier and excercising. Thanks so much.
I would love to try the veggie quinoa salad! I am trying to eat healthier!
I didn’t know apples were so high up on the list, I knew the berries were all good sources. We do a good job with fresh fruits and veggies around here, even with all the chaos.
Love the idea of the free cookbook. Wonderful. When thinking about antioxidants and food, I think of strawberries and blueberries, it’s nice to know apples and cherries are on the list.
I’ve been wanting to look this up, but never got around to the last few years, lol. I need to save this post so I don’t forget what they are 🙂
I guess I really didn’t know what super foods were, but I’m definitely going to try some of the recipes. Thanks.
Great list. I am glad to see that many of my favourite foods are on the list.
Those are some seriously awesome superoofds and you just reminded me – I haven’t had quinoa in a while. It’s about time
It is important to eat the healthiest, best grown food possible. We are what we eat so we need to eat the best possible.
Some of these recipes sound so good. I would love to try the Papaya-Mango custard. Thanks for passing this on.
Miso soup is one of my favorites, but I’ve never tried making it from scratch. I love the other super foods you mentioned, especially spinach and pineapple.
