What is a Superfood?
You see the term all the time– Superfood. But do you really understand what the term means? A superfood is a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being. Green foods are often called the super food of the nutrition world because they are packed with so many nutrients. Some fruits and fish have been classified as superfoods as well.
Why do I want to eat Superfoods? Can I be Popeye?
Oh my goodness, I want to be “Super” charged human, don’t you? What’s the point of Superfood? Some say that the term “Superfood” is just a marketing term. Others argue it drives people toward nutrient packed foods and “what can be wrong with that?” Still other maintain that study after study has shown that the best way to take advantage of all of the benefits of food is to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Research has shown that a diet high in plant-based foods helps to lower cholesterol, reduce your risk for heart disease, balance blood sugar levels, promote a healthy weight, and even reduce your risk of cancer.
