How to Defy Signs of Aging Hair

I am partnering with Pantene to let you know what their experts have to say about aging hair. Pantene has a new product line called Age Defy. It’s exciting! Pantene has worked over a ten year period to develop it’s first and only line of anti-aging products to help you fight all the problems as your hair ages. The benefits Pantene’s NEW Age Defy can offer you are:

  • reduces breakage
  • prevents split ends
  • controls frizz
  • controls unruly grays
  • minimizes lackluster color
  • minimizes a thin look
  • minimizes dryness

Pantene’s Age Defy Line Products: Pantene Age Defy Shampoo($8.99), Pantene Age Defy Conditioner ($8.99), Pantene Age Defy Advanced Thickening Treatment ($18.99), Pantene Age Defy Rejuvenating Hydration Masque ($12.99)

What the Chief Blonde did

faux Bob

The Chief Blonde sports a faux bob designed by her stylist, Alyssa Bratton of Andrew Marc Salons, Rochester Hills, MI.

In order to immerse myself in the Age Defy experience, I read some of the tips from Patene’s Celebrity Stylist Danilo. They might help you deal with your aging hair as well:

o   A great haircut and a good hair color, preferably one with the least amount of chemicals, is sure to take years off your look.

o   Longer hair on older women can sometimes make faces appear elongated – as we age, we are fighting gravity and this goes for hair too!  Older heads of hair look great with short, geometric cuts.

o   Using anti-aging hair products, such as Pantene Pro-V Age Defy doesn’t necessarily mean you’re losing your hair or addressing a sometimes taboo issue. This collection can be used as a preventative measure to keep you looking and feeling confident about your hair every day.

o   The Pantene Pro-V Age Defy Daily Thickening Treatment is such a great product because it has cumulative benefits. Not only does this product thicken the diameter of hair strands, making hair appear fuller, but it can also be used as a root lifter. It’ll leave hair softer and shinier which will make you look younger.

o   You should start any hair style with a clean base, so be sure to use the Pantene Pro-V Age Defy Shampoo and Conditioner regimen in conjunction with the rest of the Age Defy collection for maximum benefits.

o   Sweeping hair away from your face is a great way to look 10 years younger.

o   Want to create a youthful looking ponytail? Instead of using an elastic, pull large pieces of hair to one side of your head and pin them loosely behind your ear. This will make your crown look fuller and thicker. This also pulls hair away from the face to expose your neck and collarbone to make you feel sexy and youthful.

Before and AfterI discussed these styling tips with my stylist, Alyssa Bratton of Andrew Marc salon in Rochester Hills, MI (book her, she’s great!). I am way too much of a chicken at this point to cut my hair short, but I did think it would be fun to try a shorter hair style as suggested by Danilo. Alyssa suggested a Faux Bob as inspired by this post from the blog “A Beautiful Mess”. Here’s what we came up with.

Faux Bob

The Age Defy products that were helpful in creating this look were the Pantene Age Defy Shampoo, Pantene Age Defy Conditioner, and the Pantene Age Defy Rejuvenating Hydration Masque. I feel like they really helped me deal with dryness, breakage and frizz. Since I have turned 50, my hair is SOOOOOO frizzy! You can’t see any frizz now! Turn back the clock on your hair!

How about some Pantene Age Defy products for yourself?

I think my hair would look younger if I kept it trimmed and styled, and perhaps a light brown color added would really work.

You mean, what do I do!…I am constantly trying to re-hydrate my hair and make it less course, less dried out and less dull.

I think my hair looks younger when it is cut shorter, cutting it removes a lot of the damaged hair. However, I love to have it longer so I can curl it and have more versatility in my hairstyles.

I think I look younger with shorter hair. I also like to keep it off my face. Keep up with my highlights to keep the gray at a minimum.

I try to keep up with covering these grays. Maybe get a new cut, too.

I would do anything within my budget to make me look 10 years younger. I have worn my hair shoulder length for years. If I could look ten years younger with a shorter style I would certainly be up for a cut. The Pantene products are budget friendly and worth a try.

I sometimes think about coloring to get rid of the gray, but then I think of all the time and money having to keep up with it so I don’t. I do keep my hair short because it really looks flat and old when it’s getting too long.

I would get a new younger style and maybe add extensions to make my hair look fuller.

My hair looks horrible. I’ve been sick for a year and haven’t had a haircut or put color on my hair in that time. My hair is mostly gray, but is still blonde, but blonde hair sometimes turns a yellow gray that is very ugly. My hair is long and I had a big tangled knot in it that took me a week to get out, but I had to cut some of it out, so it is very thin, but my scalp has new hair growing in that is sticking straight up. So since my hair looks horrendous, I will do anything to make it look better. I don’t think it can look any worse. I will get it cut and colored and change hair care products.

I wear my hair pulled up and back to look younger. i might dye my hair lighter shades to brighten my face up.

I would never have started coloring my hair because of the damage it has done over the years.
