How to Defy Signs of Aging Hair

I am partnering with Pantene to let you know what their experts have to say about aging hair. Pantene has a new product line called Age Defy. It’s exciting! Pantene has worked over a ten year period to develop it’s first and only line of anti-aging products to help you fight all the problems as your hair ages. The benefits Pantene’s NEW Age Defy can offer you are:

  • reduces breakage
  • prevents split ends
  • controls frizz
  • controls unruly grays
  • minimizes lackluster color
  • minimizes a thin look
  • minimizes dryness

Pantene’s Age Defy Line Products: Pantene Age Defy Shampoo($8.99), Pantene Age Defy Conditioner ($8.99), Pantene Age Defy Advanced Thickening Treatment ($18.99), Pantene Age Defy Rejuvenating Hydration Masque ($12.99)

What the Chief Blonde did

faux Bob

The Chief Blonde sports a faux bob designed by her stylist, Alyssa Bratton of Andrew Marc Salons, Rochester Hills, MI.

In order to immerse myself in the Age Defy experience, I read some of the tips from Patene’s Celebrity Stylist Danilo. They might help you deal with your aging hair as well:

o   A great haircut and a good hair color, preferably one with the least amount of chemicals, is sure to take years off your look.

o   Longer hair on older women can sometimes make faces appear elongated – as we age, we are fighting gravity and this goes for hair too!  Older heads of hair look great with short, geometric cuts.

o   Using anti-aging hair products, such as Pantene Pro-V Age Defy doesn’t necessarily mean you’re losing your hair or addressing a sometimes taboo issue. This collection can be used as a preventative measure to keep you looking and feeling confident about your hair every day.

o   The Pantene Pro-V Age Defy Daily Thickening Treatment is such a great product because it has cumulative benefits. Not only does this product thicken the diameter of hair strands, making hair appear fuller, but it can also be used as a root lifter. It’ll leave hair softer and shinier which will make you look younger.

o   You should start any hair style with a clean base, so be sure to use the Pantene Pro-V Age Defy Shampoo and Conditioner regimen in conjunction with the rest of the Age Defy collection for maximum benefits.

o   Sweeping hair away from your face is a great way to look 10 years younger.

o   Want to create a youthful looking ponytail? Instead of using an elastic, pull large pieces of hair to one side of your head and pin them loosely behind your ear. This will make your crown look fuller and thicker. This also pulls hair away from the face to expose your neck and collarbone to make you feel sexy and youthful.

Before and AfterI discussed these styling tips with my stylist, Alyssa Bratton of Andrew Marc salon in Rochester Hills, MI (book her, she’s great!). I am way too much of a chicken at this point to cut my hair short, but I did think it would be fun to try a shorter hair style as suggested by Danilo. Alyssa suggested a Faux Bob as inspired by this post from the blog “A Beautiful Mess”. Here’s what we came up with.

Faux Bob

The Age Defy products that were helpful in creating this look were the Pantene Age Defy Shampoo, Pantene Age Defy Conditioner, and the Pantene Age Defy Rejuvenating Hydration Masque. I feel like they really helped me deal with dryness, breakage and frizz. Since I have turned 50, my hair is SOOOOOO frizzy! You can’t see any frizz now! Turn back the clock on your hair!

How about some Pantene Age Defy products for yourself?

I moisturize my scalp once a week with aloe vera, which also keeps my hair super soft and shiny.

I already color my hair at home every 2 months which disguises my gray & actually seems to make my hair look healthier but then when my hair needs trimmed again, it looks pretty frizzy~I have naturally wavy hair & my hairdresser always tells me my hair is in great shape but I don’t see it when my gray roots come through ..

Well I am 48 and have had extremely long hair for more than 20 years. I am getting ready to change things up quite drastically. I am going to cut it off and donate it. My hair will is down to my thighs and I will be cutting it up to my shoulders. I am also going to dye it. I normally have dark blonde hair and I’m going to dye it dark brown…almost black. I will be unrecognizable lol.

I found out to make my hair thicker, all I had to do was go to an allergist and find out I had food allergies. No longer ingesting the foods I was allergic to has made my hair start getting thicker.

I’d actually feel like doing my hair (curling, etc) more often. My aging hair makes me FEEL old… therefor I really dont feel like getting all gussied up… My hair is thinning, grey and breaking!

I color it but 2 shades lighter than my normal dark brown hair color. It softens the look and makes me look younger.

Just about anything! My hair is definitely thinning, so it is already showing signs of aging. I personally use the age defy advanced thickening treatment and can attest to its volumizing and texturizing abilities. It’s a great product and I will be buying more of it very soon.

What I would do to my hair to make me look 10 years younger? I’d dye it and get long layers. 🙂

To make mine look 10 years younger I’d have to dye it to get the grey out – which isn’t gonna happen.
    Thanks for the contest.

I am so lazy when it comes to dealing with my hair. Part of it is not yet finding a hair dresser I like and can trust. In addition to being lazy, I am a fumble fingers and can’t do anything with my hair. My hair is naturally curly and has started to fizz. For starters, I need a good cut and style, then a treatment to put moisture back into my hair. Lastly, I need some hints and techniques for taking care of my hair and styling it.

I color my hair at home, use leave-in conditioners, and keratin infused sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.
