It Takes a Nation to Make Us Aware of Breast Cancer

October 11, 2010 By Shelley Zurek

Many Great  Companies and Organizations step up to the Fight against Breast Cancer!

Here’s what they are doing!

Empire State Building NYC 2010

Estee Illuminates

To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Estee Lauder Companies‘ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign illuminated a total of 38 global historic landmarks in pink lights over a 24-hour period of time, creating a new category and achieving a new Guinness World Record entitled: “Most Landmarks Illuminated for a Cause in 24 Hours.”  The 24-hour period began at 12:00 pm EST on Thursday, September 30 and ended 12:00 pm EST on Friday, October 1.  Guinness World Records made this official announcement on October 1, as Evelyn H. Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of The Estee Lauder Companies, and Elizabeth Hurley, Spokesmodel for Estee Lauder and The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, illuminated the Empire State Building in pink lights, commemorating an effort that began 11 years ago at the same New York City landmark.

With more than 100,000 volunteers participating in Komen Races across the country, volunteers serve as the backbone of the series, helping to put on more than 120 Race events each year.  Georgia-Pacific recognizes the hard work and dedication of the volunteers and created the Quilted Northern Soft & Strong® Champions campaign to recognize race volunteers and everyone else that lends a helping hand in supporting Susan G.
