Debut Country Album from Pete Scobell Band
Finding your Calling…your journey will get you there
When I was in high school, I thought I wanted to be a librarian. My parents had a different idea and had me apply to the local University (at the time called General Motor Institute, now called Kettering University). It turned out a good fit for me (imagine? My parents actually knew what was best for me!)
While getting my undergraduate degree and then while getting my MBA from the University of Chicago, I dabbled in theater and loved that. Enjoyment of the spotlight was surely something that brought me joy and I contemplated how I could incorporate being an actress into my life.
As usual though, life got in the way of a calling. There were jobs, multiple moves, children, a divorce, a remarriage and a blended family to raise. At 49 of years of age, as things started to settle down, a chance viewing of the movie “Julie/Julia” (about a blogger named Julie and the renowned Amrecian Chef, Julia Child) coupled with a free weekend, birthed this blog. Finally as a blogger, I had a spotlight, like the actress I aspired to be and subjects to organize, like the librarian I had always wanted to be.

Like me, Pete Scobell took a circuitous route to get to his calling. As a 17 year veteran and celebrated Navy Seal, Pete was injured during one of his many tours of duty overseas. As a result, he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Pete’s doctors encouraged him to play music as part of his treatment and recovery plan. Music had been a hobby for Pete most of his life, plus Pete’s mother was a musician and he had inherited her instruments. On their advice, Pete used his music to heal and find his calling.

Pete Scobell along with his band have now released their debut country album, “Walkin A Wire“. Themes the Pete Scobell band have incorporated into this album include loss, life after the military, and supporting our veterans in their endeavors once they return to civilian life. With his music’s diversity and relatability, it has the potential to strike a chord with audiences across America.

I learned that this album is a story of a lifelong journey; he has impressively, been a celebrated Navy SEAL, competitive skier and athlete, mountain climber, inspiration and advocate!
Navy Seal? – !
His mother died when he was 10 months old. That is a shame. It’s hard to grow up without a monther.
The 12 songs on Walkin a Wire are the work of an accomplished singer and instrumentalist who’s already put in the hours, singing and performing in barracks, dive bars and anywhere else people wanted a bit of an escape from whatever was happening
I didn’t know you did theater! You look the same, too :). I’ve heard a bit about Pete Scobell, his music seems like it would be good.
Wow, Wynonna was an inspiration to Pete- that definitely makes me more interested in exploring his music. Thanks for sharing this up and coming artist!
I learned that he sings country music
Wynonna Judd and Cactus Moser helped him in Nashville get the confidence to record. He’d gotten out of the military and had a traumatic brain injury so it was therapeutic to play music, a love of his.
I learned that Pete is coming to my area in a month! How cool that he plays his mom’s musical instruments…I bet it’s a way for him to feel closer to hear after losing her when he was 10 months old!
I learned that he is a country star that is touring for the next few months and is interested in some athletic activities.
I didn’t know his Mom left all her instruments for him when she died and that’s how he learned to play
A guiding hand intervened again when paul met Wynonna Judd through makers of the film “The Hornets Nest” a 2014 Afghanistan War documentary.
I learned that Pete Scobell is a former Navy Seal and loves helping other people too
I learned that they invited him back to Nashville to record at RCA Studio A with Moser serving as producer and Judd’s band members from The Big Noise backing him up.
I learned that he’s an ex Navy Seal.
I learned that Pete Scobell is a NAVY seal. Not WAS, once a SEAL, always a SEAL!
This isn’t on the first linked page but reading further, his song “For the Ones I Stand Beside” is on the soundtrack of the movie “The Hornet’s Nest”. You can hear it and most of his other music on YouTube. He is really good. I hope to hear more from him.
I like the names of the songs. Especially Friends With Money. I could use a few of those. They might not stay friends if I borrowed money though. lol.
He has been playing music all his life, so this isn’t just a thing.
I would love to win.
The album is the culmination of his lifelong dream.
I learned about him. Wow! Navy seal…mountain climber…what experiences.
