Debut Country Album from Pete Scobell Band
Finding your Calling…your journey will get you there
When I was in high school, I thought I wanted to be a librarian. My parents had a different idea and had me apply to the local University (at the time called General Motor Institute, now called Kettering University). It turned out a good fit for me (imagine? My parents actually knew what was best for me!)
While getting my undergraduate degree and then while getting my MBA from the University of Chicago, I dabbled in theater and loved that. Enjoyment of the spotlight was surely something that brought me joy and I contemplated how I could incorporate being an actress into my life.
As usual though, life got in the way of a calling. There were jobs, multiple moves, children, a divorce, a remarriage and a blended family to raise. At 49 of years of age, as things started to settle down, a chance viewing of the movie “Julie/Julia” (about a blogger named Julie and the renowned Amrecian Chef, Julia Child) coupled with a free weekend, birthed this blog. Finally as a blogger, I had a spotlight, like the actress I aspired to be and subjects to organize, like the librarian I had always wanted to be.
Like me, Pete Scobell took a circuitous route to get to his calling. As a 17 year veteran and celebrated Navy Seal, Pete was injured during one of his many tours of duty overseas. As a result, he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Pete’s doctors encouraged him to play music as part of his treatment and recovery plan. Music had been a hobby for Pete most of his life, plus Pete’s mother was a musician and he had inherited her instruments. On their advice, Pete used his music to heal and find his calling.
Pete Scobell along with his band have now released their debut country album, “Walkin A Wire“. Themes the Pete Scobell band have incorporated into this album include loss, life after the military, and supporting our veterans in their endeavors once they return to civilian life. With his music’s diversity and relatability, it has the potential to strike a chord with audiences across America.
