(all photos supplied by UPtv and Warner Entertainment)
Main Characters:
- Rory Gilmore: (played by Alexis Bledel) the daughter in the Gilmore Girls, who has hopes of attending Harvard
- Lorelai Gilmore: (played by Lauren Graham) owner of the Independence Inn and the mom in the Gilmore Girls who had Rory at 16 and left home as an unwed mother with her young baby
- Emily and Richard Gilmore: (played by Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrman) Lorelai’s wealthy, appearance-obsessed parents
- Luke Danes: (played by Scott Patterson) is the owner of “Luke’s Diner” in Stars Hollow and Lorelai’s friend and then later love interest
- Sookie St. James: (played by Melissa McCarthy) Lorelai’s best friend and business partner at the Independence Inn
- Lane Kim: (played by Keiko Agena) Rory’s best friend
- Michel Gerard: (played by Yanic Truesdale) a French concierge who works at the Independence Inn with Lorelai and Sookie
What to watch for as a newbie while watching the marathon (Oct. 4) and series reboot on Monday through Friday, each weeknight beginning Oct. 5:
- Each Gilmore episode is chock full of pop culture references
- Each episode of Gilmore Girls has at least 2 to 3 literary references
- A enormous amount of coffee is consumed during the show. Rory, is the lone holdout, she prefers soft drinks
- A great deal of pizza, junk food and chinese food is consumed, along with burgers and pancakes
For fans and news fans alike: When watching the marathon…why not try?
- See how many pop culture references you can find in each episode: For example, the pilot references over 14 different music, books, and popular culture items. How many can you find?
- As I said, the characters drink a LOT of coffee. Why not view the marathon with a group of friends and take a sip of coffee each time someone in the show does? (Use good sense…LOL!)
- Order pizza and chinese food whenever you watch on Monday through Friday Nights at 7 & 8PM (ET)
- Read all the books, listen to all the music and watch all the movies mentioned in the series. You can google various lists (they tend to differ from list to list).

Blog Note: This Gilmore Girls discussion is a sponsored post, but all the excitement is my own!

For all their faults, I love how much Richard and Emily Gilmore love each other. So the “Gilmore Girls” episode I’m most looking forward to is Season 5 Episode 13 ‘Wedding Bell Blues,’ when the Gilmore grandparents renew their vows. When Richard says, “Tonight, call me Bill.” … And then he twirls Emily around on the floor to the classic Fifth Dimension song “Marry Me, Bill” … I swoon! I love it. The rest of that episode isn’t my favorite. But the vow renewal ceremony makes my heart happy every time.
rorys first day at chilton and kiss and tell both sound really good
I’ve never seen this show so I’d start at the beginning.
Thanks for the contest.
As I have never seen a lot of the episodes when first aired, I would have to start with the season 1 pilot and then binge watch.
I want to see Christopher Returns. It sounds like a good episode
The pilot, I haven’t watched Tv in quite some time.
I want to see the first episode, The Lorelais’ First Day At Chilton. I have never seen this show before so I’d love to see how it started!
I’m looking forward to the Rory’s Birthday Parties episode because thats when you see the sparks between Rory and Dean start.
I’m looking forward to “Paris is Burning.” If I’m going to relive my teenage years, I have to do it right … and that means I have to love when anything goes wrong for Paris! I couldn’t stand her.
(As an aside, I have a huge issue with ‘Dean’. Having watched Supernatural, it’s so weird in the pilot when he says his name, LOL.)
Thank you for the chance!
Rory’s Birthday Parties love a birthday party so this one would be fun to watch.
kiss me now. I want to watch this episode with my daughter
I want to see “Love and War and Snow.” Anytime they have Rory’s grandma and grandpa in an episode I want to watch it. they are always so fun to watch.
I want to see the pilot episode, since I have never watched the show in the past. I am looking forward to get to know all the characters. Thank you for this fun and generous giveaway.
Marilyn
I’d love to see The Third Lorelai-Marion Ross is such a hoot as Grandmother.
I’m excited to rewatch “That Damn Donna Reed” – I liked the way that episode dealt with Rory and Dean’s relationship in such an honest way!
I want to see Kiss and Tell, the episodes like those remind me of my family!
I have a bit of a Gilmore Girl obsession.I have seen every episode at least 4 times and know every line.Rory’s birthday parties is the one I look forward to seeing again because it’s fun to watch Lorelei being super mom!
OMG- I would love to win this I am such a HUGE Gilmore fan. This is a show my mother and I watched together for every single episode. I can quote the lines! Rory’s Dance is one of my all time favorite episodes and it’s coming up on the 4th- it’s the beginning of her romance with Dean!
I’ve never seen this show and really don’t know any more about it that what you wrote in your post. I can’t say I’m anxious to see any of the episodes ’cause well, I won’t be watching 🙂 It’s not a show that piques my interest to be honest.
I’m looking forward to Christopher Returns. I always loved him for some reason!
