For those of you new to the Gilmore Girl series
What? You never watched the Gilmore girls? Well with UPtv marathon and regular Monday through Friday night feature of the series you can! But first, let me help you get up to speed.
Show Summary: Set in fictional Stars Hallow, Connecticut, Mom (Lorelai) and daughter (Rory) make up the Gilmore girls. Gilmore Girls is a humorous multigenerational series about friendship, family and the ties that bind.
Originally Aired: 2000-2007, 7 seasons

Main Characters:
- Rory Gilmore: (played by Alexis Bledel) the daughter in the Gilmore Girls, who has hopes of attending Harvard
- Lorelai Gilmore: (played by Lauren Graham) owner of the Independence Inn and the mom in the Gilmore Girls who had Rory at 16 and left home as an unwed mother with her young baby
- Emily and Richard Gilmore: (played by Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrman) Lorelai’s wealthy, appearance-obsessed parents
- Luke Danes: (played by Scott Patterson) is the owner of “Luke’s Diner” in Stars Hollow and Lorelai’s friend and then later love interest
- Sookie St. James: (played by Melissa McCarthy) Lorelai’s best friend and business partner at the Independence Inn
- Lane Kim: (played by Keiko Agena) Rory’s best friend
- Michel Gerard: (played by Yanic Truesdale) a French concierge who works at the Independence Inn with Lorelai and Sookie
What to watch for as a newbie while watching the marathon (Oct. 4) and series reboot on Monday through Friday, each weeknight beginning Oct. 5:
- Each Gilmore episode is chock full of pop culture references
- Each episode of Gilmore Girls has at least 2 to 3 literary references
- A enormous amount of coffee is consumed during the show. Rory, is the lone holdout, she prefers soft drinks
- A great deal of pizza, junk food and chinese food is consumed, along with burgers and pancakes
For fans and news fans alike: When watching the marathon…why not try?
- See how many pop culture references you can find in each episode: For example, the pilot references over 14 different music, books, and popular culture items. How many can you find?
- As I said, the characters drink a LOT of coffee. Why not view the marathon with a group of friends and take a sip of coffee each time someone in the show does? (Use good sense…LOL!)
- Order pizza and chinese food whenever you watch on Monday through Friday Nights at 7 & 8PM (ET)
- Read all the books, listen to all the music and watch all the movies mentioned in the series. You can google various lists (they tend to differ from list to list).

Rory and Dean’s first kiss is a great moment. I loved Gilmore Girls so much when it was originally out and I’ve been meaning to watch it more recently. It’s such a classic. I actually own the same dress that Rory wore in the episode where she first slept with Dean. haha

I am looking forward to ALL of them.. I’m a huge Gilmore Girls fan and still watch reruns whenever I can! I love Loralei’s outfit in ‘The Lorelais’ First Day At Chilton’ and the look on Rory’s face as she watches her Mom jump around trying to put her cowboy boots on to finish of her cowgirl ensemble! lol And I love how she adds that trench coat to cover it all up.. but a trench coat with cowboy boots?! Only Loralei Gilmore could pull that one off! And I also love her first meeting with Paris in this episode that starts off a relationship like no other 🙂 Oh… how I love Gilmore Girls!! I love how the relationships play out… sometimes drag out.. but oh how I wanted Luke and Loralei to get married and have tons of babies and live happily ever after! I love this show! One of my favorite episodes is The Lorelais’ First Day At Chilton. They have such a great relationship and rapport 🙂
So I’ve actually never watched ANY Gilmore Girls series. One of my college friends said she loves the series, too. So I’d be up for watching any of them!

love all the episodes Love,War and Snow i find actually funny Rory`s grandparents have no idea how to take care of themselves when the cook can not get there during the snowstorm and Rory finds a pizza in the freezer ,oven timer going off they had no idea how to stop it -illustrates just how out of touch they were with the real world

This is one of the best giveaways! I love, love Gilmore Girls! Rory’s Dance it’s one of my favorite Rory and Dean eps! I don’t know what it is I like about it but I think its one of the best younger eps! I think it would have to be when the leave the dance and Dean finds the book that Rory takes with her and she’s says something along the line that she always takes a book with her. I can not wait to re-enjoy ever show again! *Happy Dance*

OH MY GOODNESS I love the Gilmore Girls! 🙂 Probably Deer-Hunters, I can’t remember very often when Rory wasn’t mentally on point. Might be nice to see her struggle like us normal folk for once.
