I’m glad they are offering free hearing tests. I will tell my friends and family about this.

I think everyone should have mandatory hearing tests as part of a routine physical. Hearing is important and most people don’t ben realize they have hearing loss until it’s too late to do anything preventative.

My hearing is one of my best senses! I think it is so good because my eye sight is so terrible. I do not know anyone who needs this, but it is a wonderful service for those who do!

Hearing loss is one of those things I really am nervous about. It does run in my family somewhat so I’m always cautious about it, and get my hearing tested often. I’ve always had issues so its somewhat frightening to me!

I did go for a hearing test. They found I had good hearing. Don’t know why I can’t hear what my kids or husband is saying at times. I will be getting a second opinion and thanks for sharing your information.

A free hearing test is such an important, easy way to check the status of something we usually take for granted. I think there are a few relatives who could benefit from this. I’ll share this post.

I know that sometimes people are fearful of hearing tests or just think that their hearing loss is because of normal aging. I think that most of the time it is!

I started having hearing problems in 1988 or so and was encouraged by a hearing clinic to visit my primary care doctor. I was 29 at the time and didn’t take the time to bother. Fast forward another 12 years , I had to go to E.R. because I had a silicone earplug, which I used bathing because water and fullness were bothering me, got stuck in my ear. The E.R. doc removed the earplug but started asking me questions on the reasons I used a earplug while bathing. (thankfully she did). She scheduled a M.R.I and to try and make a long story shorter, I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, a tumor of the ear canal. (Acoustic Neuroma) They removed the golf ball size tumor, but had to blow out the ear canal to get to it. The tumor was so large that it had a side effect of total hearing loss in the left ear and palsy in the left side of the face. The palsy has gotten better with the strengthening of the facial nerves, but of course I am totally deaf and unable to use a hearing aid.

What I am getting at though, is DO NOT MESS AROUND OR IGNORE HEARING LOSS! Don’t be a dummy like I was! It never hurts to check and make sure that it doesn’t get progressively worse!
I know that it can be embarrassing not hearing, (those issues are a whole new ballgame—-not knowing where the sound is coming from!) but if you can wear a hearing aid, please try it!

    With sympathy and understanding,
    Tracey

I think everyone could benefit from a free hearing test but I know that I have more trouble lately hearing things when people are talking to me. If there is ANY background noise, I just can’t hear what they are saying.

This is so important, and people are embarrassed. It’s so sad. My husband works in an extremely loud environment and won’t admit to his hearing loss. I feel for him and our family. It is hard on all. They have made so many advances in helping. No longer big, bulky, and only work part of the time. Thanks for shining awareness on this and hopefully it will help someone feel like they can get tested. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. We all have something. The world has so many beautiful sounds.

My son actually had cholesteatoma removed from his ear when he was two yrs old. It had been wrapped around all the nerves in his inner ear as well. He is legally deaf in that ear and needs to see the ear doctor ever 6 months for the rest of his life. Right now he is 25 years old without insurance so he could indeed use a free hearing test.. Thanks for sharing the information.

Hearing, is something most of us take for granted. As an OTR truck driver or many years, I was subject to loud noised 24/7 and even louder sounds frequently. As a result, I have partial hearing loss in both of my ears. As I’ve aged I’ve noticed it hard for me to understand what someone is saying in a room full of people and noises even if they ar standing right next to me. I finally had my hearing checked this year and I’m so glad I did.
This looks like a great offer.

My husband could definitely benefit from a hearing test. He turns 40 next year and all of those years playing shows and attending concerts are catching up with him.

My Mom has hearing loss and its really an issue for her. Admitting it and wanting to do anything about it… both are so hard for her. My heart hurts for her because I know it bothers her so!
