Yves Saint Laurent Fashion Book

December 20, 2014 By Shelley Zurek 72 Comments

Yves Saint Laurent by Roxanne Lowitt

Yves Saint Laurent

YVES SAINT LAURENT

($50.00 hardcover, 9780500517604) is a dazzling portrait of the designer and his world of fashion over the last 25 years of his career by legendary backstage fashion photography pioneer Roxanne Lowit.

The subject intrigued me because he defined the 1970s in terms of cool cutting edge fashion. An accomplishment I particularly admired is that he:

He revolutionized women’s evening wear when he introduced le smoking, a woman’s tuxedo, and made couture accessible to a younger generation. ~ From Thames & Hudson website.

Update: THis Yves Saint Laurent Fashion book past was originally a giveaway. The Rafflecopter entry device has been removed and had 341 entries. See Giveaway Winners.

i like the fact that it spans from 1978 to Saint Laurent’s finale in 2002. A nice glimpse into his world.

My favorite aspect is the photos of the models and the outfits that were created for them.

I remember being a young teenager and Yves Saint Laurent was THE designer….that year at Christmas Santa brought me a small bottle of YSL perfume! I love that he designed with all ages in mind and his designs were beautiful! It would be lovely to win this giveaway.

“A must-have for any fashionista.” (Windy City Times) Is the comment I liked the best. A Friend of mine went to FIT in NY and this would be a great gift for me to give her. I thought of her when I read about the book review.

I’m actually quite interested in this time-period when Yves Saint Laurent (or ysl) was the thing, partially because I lived through it. There was a time when every girl had to have a bottle of Opium on her dresser!
