Yves Saint Laurent by Roxanne Lowitt
YVES SAINT LAURENT
($50.00 hardcover, 9780500517604) is a dazzling portrait of the designer and his world of fashion over the last 25 years of his career by legendary backstage fashion photography pioneer Roxanne Lowit.
The subject intrigued me because he defined the 1970s in terms of cool cutting edge fashion. An accomplishment I particularly admired is that he:
He revolutionized women’s evening wear when he introduced le smoking, a woman’s tuxedo, and made couture accessible to a younger generation. ~ From Thames & Hudson website.

I would love the photos of the pretty clothes
Tons of color pics of the fashion world would be cool!!
I would love to see how the dresses go from an idea to an actual stunning gown.
i did not know that yves sait laurent introduced le smoking, a woman’s tuxedo
i like the fact that it spans from 1978 to Saint Laurent’s finale in 2002. A nice glimpse into his world.
My favorite aspect is the photos of the models and the outfits that were created for them.
I think it would be the illustrations. See the drawings and photos of those beautiful clothes….mmmmmmm
All the pictures is the best part
I like that an insider wrote the book….legendary pioneer of backstage fashion photography, Roxanne Lowit
I remember being a young teenager and Yves Saint Laurent was THE designer….that year at Christmas Santa brought me a small bottle of YSL perfume! I love that he designed with all ages in mind and his designs were beautiful! It would be lovely to win this giveaway.
“A must-have for any fashionista.” (Windy City Times) Is the comment I liked the best. A Friend of mine went to FIT in NY and this would be a great gift for me to give her. I thought of her when I read about the book review.
Nice looking book to read!
I’ve been a fan of YSL for years. Not just the fashion but the beauty products.
Yves Saint Laurent, is a Icon in fashion. I have to say that I would love to read is how he came up in the world, and follow the pictures!
I like that the photos are from backstage so they show you a side you rarely see.
I would love to see how he came up with his ideas for evening gowns!
I usually look at the reviews to see how others liked the book and this book has very high ratings! So it should be great to read!
That he made coutour accessible to the younger generation.
I’m actually quite interested in this time-period when Yves Saint Laurent (or ysl) was the thing, partially because I lived through it. There was a time when every girl had to have a bottle of Opium on her dresser!
The pictures of the clothes would be the best part! Stunning designer!
