White out, Change it up: Outfits modeled by Women over 45

May 3, 2011 By Shelley Zurek

This Spring we saw ALL WHITE fashions all over the Runway!

White out BASIC Still blonde after all these YearsBASIC WHITE

(The Chief Blonde is wearing Pants and Shirt-The LOFT, Gold/silver/copper Hale Bob Vintage shoes, Vintage Earrings and Bracelet, Serena Williams Signature Bracelet (c/o))

So what’s a girl who normally wears all black to do with a fashion direction that emphasizes ALL WHITE?  Try like crazy to embrace the trend and see how she can make it work for her.  I call the look above Basic White.  The peddle pusher pants and camisole blouse are so basic that they can just about be worn anywhere with or without any accessory and still work.  (Sounding like my basic black right?)

Next, I decided to show you what happens with basic white if you just change a few items.  In the outfit below, I just changed the jewelry and a few accessories:

White out jewelry Still Blonde after all these YEARSDRESSY WHITE

(Serena Williams Signature Ring c/o,  Forever 21 Necklace, Victoria Secret evening bag, Vintage sweater)

You can see, without even changing the shoes how I have dressed up this look.  Now let’s see what we can do to make it look more casual:

WHite out red still blonde after all these yearsCASUAL WHITE

(Stuart Weitzman Kitten heels,  Rhumba Watch c/o, indian bead bracelet, Crystalyn Kae Recyled Leather Clutch c/o, Cinzia zip Necklace c/o)

Of course, what would white be if I couldn’t do Las Vegas Elvis/Liberace White? The camera doesn’t do this top justice…it’s a fantastic bit of vintage bead work!  I would make the KING so proud….

(White and Gold Vintage top–EBAY)

And  last but not least,  just to show you that white works no matter what the mood:

(Sequin Top–The Loft)

So there you have it, the ALL WHITE trend executed by a slightly vintage Blonde, who is definitely a newbie with this trend!

Which outfit was your favorite?

And just for a little bit of a silliness and with a nod to this week’s Royal Wedding:

Love the sequin top. I think it offsets the pumps beautifully. :-). The length of the pants,IMO is perfection!

If I had to vote, I’m particularly fond of Dressy White, although the Las Vegas White top is divine. Each outfit has a fantastic piece in it though-great options!

Those metallic shoes are AWESOME. I love the first outfit with the pearls, and the last outfit with the sparkly top the best. Very chic and ladylike 🙂

Hey there, thanks for your comment on my ‘White Out’ outfit! You are really too sweet 🙂 I normally wouldn’t put an outfit together like that, I am more often on the safe side, but seeing as it was a challenge, I decided to be a little different and I was really pleased with the outcome. I am in love with the spotted tights!

I really like what you have done with the white on white look – in all of the combinations! It’s great that you have added small colour accents to make the outfit pop, particularly the gold and red in the dressy and casual looks. The way you have just added to the simple outfit and changed it around really makes the whole look that much more versatile!

I think you look great in all of the white outfits but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the last one (because I’m a sucker for a little sparkle lately!))
I also like the causal one! The pop of red is a great way to break up the monochromatic scheme.

Thanks so much for stopping by my little blog! And commenting-double thanks!

These outfits are all terrific (and you look great in them)! You’re really rocking the all-white…makes me want to give it a try. (though it’s probably easier to pull off a sleek look with white pants (which I don’t have) than a white top and white skirt? Hmm.) I think my favorite is the Las Vegas look – I love the beading on the top!
