I think it depends on the family. The most important thing is that everyone appreciates what they get instead of taken for granted.
I think Christmas giving is excessive when you start racking up a lot of debt to pay for gifts you can’t really afford. I would say what is enough is when each person in the family has a few gifts.
I think it gets excessive when people are giving up food/rent/etc. to buy extravagant holiday presents.
I WOULD LOVE TO WIN!!!! I LOVE WENDY!!!!
It can get excessive, and some people do without. It’s sad to see a tree with $2000 worth of presents, and a person go without jeans or a coat.
I think that it becomes obsessive when people spend beyond their means and run up debt .
I only believe Christmas giving is excessive when it puts you in a bad position, for example, you spend so much on Christmas presents that you don’t know how you’re going to afford groceries for Christmas dinner. Every person should have the right to get however many or however few presents for whomever, it’s no one else’s business! As far as what is enough, there honestly isn’t an “enough”. I believe, you should be able to give no presents or just a few and have it still be acceptable, after-all Christmas isn’t strictly about the gifts..
it depends on how broke i am
I think its excessive if you cant afford it and have huge credit card bill now! Enough to me is anything really!
It’s excessive when the “value” of the gift becomes more important than the thought behind it.
Four good gifts is enough!
I think it should be whatever works for that particular family
I think it becomes excessive when it becomes material and not family celebrating. When we spend the next two months catching back up on bills due to excessive spending, then it is excessive and ridiculous.
Well the gifts in that picture were excessive I’d agree! I think it’s important to stay within your means and make sure to consider being spoiled.
I think it is excessive when there is so much that nothing is appreciated.
Christmas is excessive when you can’t afford it or when you use credit to pay for it. We don’t need to buy everything in the store for our loved ones, just a few items they need or will appreciate.
I think it’s excessive when you have to go into debt just to buy gifts. Whatever you can afford if enough, and homemade gifts are my favorite!
When you can’t afford the stuff you purchase, or you purchase gifts that you want for someone but they wouldn’t choose for themselves.
I think it gets excessive when you keep trying to top yourself each year and it is enough when it comes from the heart.
I seen the pic above in a number of places and there has been a lot of justification of the outrageous consumption. I would rather my kids get things they can use and will remember. It’s not worth going into debt and creating completely unrealistic expectations that the world will not continue to live up to.
