UPF Hats for Women

April 2, 2019 By Shelley Zurek 173 Comments

UPF Hats for women are a necessary accessory for the spring, summer and fall. In the winter, UPF Hats for women are useful for cruise season, resorts, skiing,  and other tropical vacations.

UPF Hats for Women — Protecting your face and hair from the sun

What is UPF?

According to SkinCancer.org:

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. It indicates what fraction of the sun’s ultraviolet rays can penetrate the fabric. A shirt with a UPF of 50, for example, allows just 1/50th of the sun’s UV radiation to reach the skin.

SPF is a more common term to measure sun protection, however, SPF is used in conjunction with sunscreens and other sun-protective products. While UPF measures the amount of sun that penetrates fabric, SPF measures the amount of time it takes sun exposed skin to start to burn.

Wallaroo Catalina Cowboy Hat

Wallaroo hats are the first UPF hats I ever wore. Wow, was I spoiled from there on.  Most Wallaroo hats have a UPF on of 50+ AND almost are are crushable and packable, plus there are a plethora of styles for your every outfit need. Can’t recommend this brand enough!  See our other Wallaroo articles here and here.

I recently purchased this fantastic Peter Grimm UPF Hat for Women  from Khols. It’s packable, crushable, and comes in 7 colors! Best feature of all? The beaded chin strap tie…I love this  for keeping my hat on as I traveling.

I’m not ususally big on hats but I do like this one: Women’s Embroidered Floppy Beach Sun Hat – Wide Brim Summer Straw. It has “It’s wine o’clock ” on it! LOL

I like the FURTALK sun visor hats for women. I live in the south and prefer a cooler hat that allows air flow around the neck and on top of the head.

I wear a hat everytime I am outside doing yardwork, especially. The Sloggers Women’s Wide Brim Braided Sun Hat with Wind Lanyard is very similar to what I wear so I would say, if it works – don’t change.

Although I don’t usually wear hat, I would choose the Wallaroo Hat Company Women’s Taylor Sun Hat – UPF 50+, Adjustable, Ready for Adventure, Designed in Australia
to go along with the dress I choose.
