A great source of Protein and Vitamins! A quick and easy meal!
Triple Juice Trios coupled with Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls and fruit.
Providing protein at breakfast time
My husband Walt is a seriously big man. Not heavy mind you…but tall 6′ 6″! (99.99 percentile)! He has a basketball build and has always been quite slim. He loves to tell people he is the same height and weight as Michael Jordan was in his prime. Aren’t I a lucky girl?
I knew Walt in college and he had a reputation as a serious eater. One time he ate 25 tacos at one time! Walt’s fraternity brothers would tell stories of Walt, eating his cereal from a (full) mixing bowl. Yet today, Walt weighs 10 pounds less than he did in college. He actually has trouble gaining and maintaining his weight (OH! How I wish that was my issue).
For those trying to gain weight, protein is a big component. According to a column written by Kathleen M. Zelman, MPH, RD, LD WebMD Expert
“Try to eat six times a day, with each meal (or at least three of them) containing protein, starch, vegetable[s], and fat,”
says sports nutritionist and Georgia State University professor emeritus Christine Rosenbloom, PhD, RD.
I decided that once a week I would make Walt a good “Big Breakfast” that contained a healthy dose of protein, starch, vitamins and fat to supplement his diet.
Breakfast Bread Bowls to the rescue
We go to church every Sunday morning, but Sunday is the day that we both enjoy a bigger and more leisurely breakfast. I like quick and easy meals like frozen breakfast sandwiches or eggs or homemade pancakes. On a recent trip down the Walmart Breakfast aisle, I discovered Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls. When I checked the nutrition information, I found just the information I was looking for:
With two Tyson Breakfast bowls, Walt can get 18g of protein or 36% of his daily protein!
It only takes 1 minute and 45 seconds to heat up two Breakfast Bread Bowls in the microwave. I was shocked how good they were and Walt loved them. Sometimes things heated in the microwave can be mushy but not these little beauties. They taste like…well…like I made them myself from scratch.
I paired the Tyson Breakfast Bread Bowls with my specially created Triple Juice Trio and some grapes for color and Walt had a breakfast that met my good “Big Breakfast” requirements!
Here’s the Triple Juice Trio recipe! Let me know what you think!
