Did You Love Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen Dress?
The newest princess and Queen-to-be Kate Middleton wore a simple yet totally elegant gown designed by Alexander McQueen which reminded me INSTANTLY of Grace Kelly’s dress that she wore in her 1956 wedding to Prince Rainier III. What do you think?
Kate’s Royal Wedding dress was certainly not as elaborate as Princess Grace’s wedding dress but even a Woman over 45 cannot deny the nod to the Grace’s elegance and simplicity. The dress was ivory silk tulle and featured the national flowers of Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England–this detail can be noted in the sleeves of the gown. Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Barton is credited with hand making the wedding dress for Prince William’s lovely bride.
Cartier, designed the tiara which Middleton wore, in 1936, it is refered to as the Cartier ‘Halo’ Tiara. With the flowers on the edge entirely hand embroidered, Kate’s lovely veil is also made from ivory silk tulle. I thought that the Bride’s sister, Pippa, was a charming accessory to Kate, also in a an ivory gowned designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Pippa dress was uber-simple. Pippa looked so much like Kate that is was like looking a mirror images of the same person in contrast–Coincidence? I think not!

Kate’s Train was reported to be 6 feet long. Princess Diana’s was 25 feet Long! Oh My!
Some people are comparing Kate’s dress to the Queen’ s wedding dress from 1947. I personally like Queen Elizabeth’s but then the Chief Blonde got married in a 1940’s dress as well!
Now you just KNEW that the Chief Blonde couldn’t let this day go by without slipping in a picture of herself! Right!

Wow, Now that’s a beautiful dress! I love it
I thought it was ok! Thought she could have done better…was expecting more.
Kate’s dress is drop dead gorgeous. Love the flow. Remember that Diana’s dress and veil seemed to stiff and formal for a young bride (I vlieve Diana was 19)
a stunning dress! very elegant

I loved Kate’s dress and I loved everything about this wedding. The veil flowed just perfect. I thought the traditional long sleeve was a nice change of pace as the majority of wedding dresses I see now are sleeveless. I have seen one too many flabby arms throwing the bouquet.
I did love her dress. So simple, elegant and beautiful. Love you dress too. 🙂
I loved Kate’s dress! I think it was gorgeous. I love wedding dresses with sleeves because there’s no way I’d wear one without sleeves or at least a lace shrug of some sort. I think the length of Kate’s dress was perfect!
loved Kate’s dress and REALLY love yours!
I loved how simple and beautiful Kate’s dress was.
I loved the veil, the dresses…eh, they were pretty as expected
All the dresses are beautiful. I really love Princess Grace’s veil though. Your dress is great. I also was married in a vintage dress!

I love the dress! Very simple and elegant. I thought it was perfect!
Personally I loved her dress. Elegant and not over the top. Very feminine, just like Kate.
I think Kate’s dress was classically elegant and perfect for a future queen. I actually liked this wedding better than Di and Charles because they seem so well suited for each other. I think the pageantry of the first was more over the top or maybe we just are more used to it now. And Pippa was beautiful as well. It would be so cute if she and Harry got together but he will end up with Chelsea.

I liked that she kept it simple and she looked great! Down to earth girl, her dress and flowers looked elegant and classy.
i was very impressed when i saw her in her dress, but i wasnt surprised, she seems to me to be very classy and has really great taste , so i knew it would be impressive but not too much BEAUTIFUL
I thought her dress was perfect. Pippa’s maybe a bit low in the chest but nice and simple.
p.s. I got up at 3am to watch Lady Di’s wedding to Charles. The sucky part about being on Pacific Coast time…
I LOVED her dress…it was so elegant and feminine, sexy and sophisticated, all at the same time. Just a perfect dress, and perfect everything, really! I wasn’t even planning to be up, but woke up around 5:30, and what the heck…watched the whole thing. Loved it!
P.S. Is that your wedding dress? I forgot to mention that I think that dress is absolutely stunning…but I’d expect nothing less from The Chief Blonde!
Yes, It is my wedding dress…my husband and I went to a vintage fair and picked it out together. It will always be one of the most memorable days of my life!
The chief blonde
Kristin,
You will always be glad you did. I watched Lady di too, but you are too young for that! It was a good day for focusing on fairy tales!
The Chief BLonde!
Oh no! I remember that one very well!! I was…11, I think? And, it was QUITE the big deal among girls my age. Definitely the fairy tale princess story, not unlike Kate’s.
I thought her dress was elegant and very tasteful. It was not a flamboyant dress; it was just simply beautiful.
I really, REALLY loved her dress – it was just perfect- beautiful but simple and understated at the same time, classy – just gorgeous!
So is yours!
