Rosacea Confession: My Concealer Goes with Me Everywhere!

Rosacea Confession: I wouldn’t go out in public without makeup!

Thank you Galderma Laboratories, L.P. for sponsoring this post. Submit your no-makeup selfie with 100-word essay on how you would use the extra time if you could help alleviate some of your tough skin days and go makeup free to enter intoGalderma’s “Break Up with Your Makeup” contest for a chance to win a trip to sunny Los Angeles!

Posing and Rosacea don’t mix!

Face it! I am a life style blogger. I have to be ready to have my picture taken at the drop of a hat. If there’s a good shot…I am posing.

But…face it! I have rosacea. What is rosacea? It’s a chronic, inflammatory skin disease where sufferers may struggle with bumps, redness and pimples on their face. You can see why I want to cover this up right? It’s certainly not attractive at least not to me…

Rosacea Confession Galderma Soolantra

In fact, I take my concealer with me most everywhere I go. I am constantly checking my face and touching up, as needed.

Maybe I should stop covering up and deal with rosacea?

Break up with Makeup Galderma Soolantra

I finally decided I needed to go see my doctor about my rosacea and stop just covering up the problem with concealer.

Dr. Doris Day, board certified NYC Dermatologist and Galderma consultant has provided some lifestyle tips for dealing with rosacea.

  • Catch up on your Zs-Yes, getting enough sleep can be rejuvenating and reinvigorating to your skin. (One of my issues…I never get enough sleep)
  • Watch what you eat-Alcohol and sugary or processed foods should be avoided as possible. (Guess I better re-evaluate that nightly glass of red wine?)
  • Track your triggers–
    •  The most common triggers include: sun, extreme temperature changes, spicy food, exercise and stress (exercise really makes my rosacea go nuts)
    •  Patients should also be aware that microscopic, typically harmless Demodex mites may also be a possible culprit (I believe these are a real issue for me)
  • Choose your products wisely–
    • Read ingredients and avoid potential irritants such as alcohol, fragrance and menthol
    • Be gentle—harsh scrubs and astringent can irritate sensitive skin
    •  Look for mineral sunscreens with titanium oxide and moisturizers that are specifically developed for sensitive skin

See your Doctor-I highly recommend this step. Your doctor can recommend a great treatment plan for your diagnosis.

Consider

Rosacea Confessions Galderma Soolantra

Soolantra® (ivermectin) Cream, 1% for the treatment of inflammatory lesions or bumps and pimples of rosacea. My doctor prescribed Soolantra Cream for me and I saw results quite soon. Galderma indicates you might see results in as little as 2 weeks. Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream is the basis for Soolantra Cream and it’s fragrance-free, mild, non-irritating formula avoids common rosacea irritants.

Important Safety Information
Indication: SOOLANTRA® (ivermectin) Cream, 1% is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory lesions of rosacea. Not for oral, ophthalmic or intravaginal use. Adverse Events: In clinical trials with SOOLANTRA Cream, the most common adverse reactions (incidence ≤ 1 %) included skin burning sensation and skin irritation.

My cousin has this condition too, so I will confer your information to her. Thanks for the help on this, and the links and names.

I haven’t ever been a really big makeup person. A little colors on my eyes & thats about it. As I get older & get less sleep, I look a little different. A concealer might be exactly what I need

I am glad that you are able to deal better with your Rosacea. People know that stress can cause problems, but don’t always realize that exercise can cause problems too.

I never leave the house without makeup either but my issues are mainly dark circles and puffiness under my eyes..Mostly due to stress and not enough sleep.

I don’t deal with rosacea but I have a small dry patch on my nose that never seems to go away. I probably check with a dermatologist.

Very interesting post! I have always had very dry hands from washing them so often (life of a waitress and then a mother of 3) and sometimes they get so bad they crack and bleed. I have also recently developed an itchy rash on my back that won’t seem to go away. Seems like I might need to see a dermatologist as well!

I have rosacea and have had difficulty in covering it up with makeup. I started using Z Skin Cosmetics and it has improved my condition. I am definitely going to check out this product. Thank you for this post!

You are welcome Paol. I use Bare Minerals Bisque to cover mine but it is much better since using this product. The Chief Blonde

I’m glad I don’t have to deal with this. I broke up with my makeup many years ago.

Rosacea is definitely a challenge for fair skinned women like you. So good to know there’s a product that actually works to cover it up to look your best, especially when you’re on the go.

I don’t have rosacea, but I do have skin discoloration that came on after I had my last child. My brother has rosacea, as well as my mom. I don’t think either of them have heard of this product. I’m sure it would help both of them!

I had no idea there is a treatment for Rosacea. It is surprising how much what you eat can affect your skin.
