Facebook Status went Viral

Recently, I realized that I needed to post something on my Facebook page to get some engagement.  I posted the picture above because I had found it on Ebay, thought it was beautiful and wondered if I bought it…could I paint it?  So I asked my 14, 500 facebook fans!  Well, needless to say, I got some enthusiastic replies. See the current results of this facebook post in the picture below or Click here to see where it is currently trending (it could be up another Million!)

Hilarious Responses to a Viral Facebook Post

I thought you might be interested in a summary of some of the top comments.  I have categorized them (but didn’t count the number that fell under that category)

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Paint or No

The majority of the commenters said No!  In various ways, with various expletives.

Facebook Tip:  Did you know that when you leave a comment in all CAPITAL letters coupled with tons of exclamation points like this: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! that 95% of the time it goes to spam?

Some People are Helpful

Paint or No

Some people gave helpful alternatives to painting,  so that I wouldn’t even consider painting.

“Go Ahead and Paint”

Others encouraged me to  pick up the paint brush and “Go Ahead and Paint”,

Apparently I should KNOW BETTER …many people are experts via Antique Roadshow,

I could have sold this piece (if I owned it), many people wanted to buy the piece that I was considering painting.

Sinner?  Nuts?

Paint Or NO

A large proportion are willing to resort to name calling or violence to keep me from painting the piece, at the very least they feel I am committing a sin!

A blogger friend of mine, Keenly Kristin discussed this trend further in her brilliant article “What People Care About“. Make sure to read it for a good laugh and some thought provoking views on Facebook!

One of my Aunts used to collect antique furniture and things and she would have been very passionate about keeping it natural.

I can see some people painting the doors one color, framing another, the main part a third — and it looking good. However, I am not one of those people. Plus, that would restrict where you could place it. Probably best to stain it to restore some shine but to leave the paint well enough alone. I laughed reading all those comments — passionate feelings, one way or another! So….what happened to this piece? I’d love to know!

I would say to do what you really want to do. Its yours and What ever works well for you and your Decor! 🙂 Its Beautiful but I personally would re stain it to bring out the Beauty of the piece. I don’t like dull looking furniture no matter how old it is!!

I love that furniture and would not paint. I would stain it a little darker.
