Redecorating a Neutral Bedroom with $250 and Midnight Velvet Comforters
Today’s discussion is brought to you by Midnight Velvet. This is a Fashionista Event.
The Chief Blonde Remarks: Working with Midnight Velvet, I had the opportunity to update my son’s neutral bedroom. He has moved out and is now married. We had made a few updates to the room after he left but it was DULL, all beige and the comforter was too big.
So I switched up the comforter, pillow shams and dust ruffle to this beautiful Queen Sized Lisette Smocked Comforter Set from Midnight Velvet. Can you imagine a luxurious queen comforter set for $129?
The placement of the bed in the room was all wrong, it was blocking the door as you walked in. So the first thing we did was move the bed to the opposite wall. After that we decided on using the gorgeous Queen Sized Lisette Smocked Comforter Set as the base for our redo, and then adding chocolate brown and gray blue accents. Here’s how we did the transformation:
Steps for a Neutral Bedroom Redo
- Pick your base color (we choose the cream in the Midnight Velvet Comforter set)
- Choose your accent color (s) ( we chose chocolate brown and gray-blue)
- Figure out what pieces you already have (we were able to reuse the bed, the side table, the arrangement, the vintage picture, the bed throw and the brown pillows)
- Determine what pieces you need to buy (we bought the Lisette comforter set (C/O), the rugs, the blue pillow, the curtains and the curtain rod)
- Lay out the best arrangement for your room (we moved the bed and took out a large entertainment center)
- What is your budget? (we decided to just redo the bed at this point but in the future we will probably add a chest of drawers, a small desk and a side chair. Our budget for this part of the redo was $250 and we achieved that easily.)
Think Midnight Velvet for your Room Refresh or Redo
You don’t have to completely redecorate your bedroom to step up the style and great a fresh look. Just adding a Midnight Velvet comforter can transform and refresh any bedroom. Just look at how great our new guest room looks!

I would choose the Flora Appliquéd and Embroidered 10-Piece Bed Set because it looks very nice!
I like Marianne. It’s pretty!
My favorite is the Cottage Rose Comforter. So pretty, love flowers and this one reminds me of my grandma’s house.
I love the Sherba bedding because I like the “jungle look”. It looks sooo soft and comfy too.
I like the Samir comforter because I like its design and color (blue).
I love the Carmen Comforter Set, Pillow & Window Treatments. This design would go with my bedroom decor, and the colors pop.
I think I like the Marianne set as it’s such a pretty yet bold color of blue with the black. Of course, I recently painted my bedroom a pale pink with purple accents, so it wouldn’t exactly match. 🙂
I like the Marianne 10-Piece set. The blue and black is different for us.
I would like to win the Capri style of the “Color Pop” Comforter Set. It would match the new decor my daughter wants in her bedroom — she would just love it!
We would pick the Sheba because its got a wild tiger pattern…just like us!1
The Lisette Smocked Comforter Set is my favorite, I love the design and Natural is my favorite color.
21-Piece Allegro Woven Jacquard Bed Set
So want a thick cozy comforter to wrap myself in for the Fall and Winter months, and one that makes me feel warm and snug.
I love the sapphire the colors are gorgeous
I love the colors in the Metropolitan and it’s machine washable.
The Kismet woven, I love the color. My carpet is blue to match. I love the woven pattern. Over time the stuffing doesn’t shift and bunch like the others.
I love so many of them! One I really love is the MArianne 10 -piece Embroidered and appliqued bed sets. I love embroidery and applique and love these colors 🙂
Carmen Comforter Set is my favorite. It’s dark and romantic which is exactly what I would love my bedroom to be!
My favorite is the Lisette Smocked Comforter Set. I always seem to like neutral colors the most. It looks like it is so comfortable, like I would be surrounded by and sleeping on clouds.
I like quite a few..today the Lizette catches my eye because of its neutrality. i may be moving so I want an adaptable ensemble.
