Midnight Velvet Neutral Bedroom Redo under $250!

July 29, 2014 By Shelley Zurek 630 Comments

Redecorating a Neutral Bedroom with $250 and Midnight Velvet Comforters

Today’s discussion is brought to you by Midnight Velvet. This is a Fashionista Event.

Midnight Velvet Before and after
still blondeThe Chief Blonde Remarks:  Working with Midnight Velvet, I had the opportunity to update my son’s neutral bedroom. He has moved out and is now married. We had made a few updates to the room after he left but it was DULL, all beige and the comforter was too big.

So I switched up the comforter, pillow shams and dust ruffle to this beautiful Queen Sized Lisette Smocked Comforter Set  from Midnight Velvet. Can you imagine a luxurious queen comforter set for $129?

Midnight Velvet Before and after

The placement of the bed in the room was all wrong, it was blocking the door as you walked in. So the first thing we did was move the bed to the opposite wall. After that we decided on using the gorgeous Queen Sized Lisette Smocked Comforter Set as the base for our redo, and then adding chocolate brown and gray blue accents. Here’s how we did the transformation:

Midnight Velvet Neutral Bedroom Redo

Steps for a Neutral Bedroom Redo

  1. Pick your base color (we choose the cream in the Midnight Velvet Comforter set)
  2. Choose your accent color (s) ( we chose chocolate brown and gray-blue)
  3. Figure out what pieces you already have (we were able to reuse the bed, the side table, the arrangement, the vintage picture, the bed throw and the brown pillows)
  4. Determine what pieces you need to buy (we bought the Lisette comforter set (C/O), the rugs, the blue pillow, the curtains and the curtain rod)
  5. Lay out the best arrangement for your room (we moved the bed and took out a large entertainment center)
  6. What is your budget?  (we decided to just redo the bed at this point but in the future we will probably add a chest of drawers, a small desk and a side chair.  Our budget for this part of the redo was $250 and we achieved that easily.)

Think Midnight Velvet for your Room Refresh or Redo

You don’t have to completely redecorate your bedroom to step up the style and great a fresh look. Just adding a Midnight Velvet comforter can transform and refresh any bedroom. Just look at how great our new guest room looks!

I like the Enchantment Bed set. My bedroom is a light blue, so this would look really nice. You can even get window coverings to match if you want.

I like the Elegance Mini Comforter Set in Sapphire blue or Plum purple. I always need a comfy blanket to curl up with on the couch.

I absolutely adore the Gold Coast Comforter because it’s something I’ve never seen before. I try to stick with darker colors due to owning pets, but they can be so boring. This, however, fits my needs and looks amazing to boot.

I love the Melinda Bed Set, but my husband would never let that in our bedroom. I think the Marianne 10-Piece Embroidered and Appliqued Bed Set or the Taipei Complete Bed Set would suite the both of us.

I like the Marissa 7-Piece Embroidered Bed Set & Window Treatments. It would create such a peaceful retreat in my bedroom! Step 1 of my redo is a purge of “stuff” we’ve collected over 18 years, then purchasing updated materials 🙂

I love the Down Alternative Comforter not only only because it looks so luxurious and warm but because my husband won’t think it’s too feminine.

I am torn between the Comforter Set, Pintuck Oversized, or the Metropolitan 10-Piece Pieced and Woven Jacquard Bed Set. They have a lot of great choices.
