Midi Length Dresses? Right for you?

June 7, 2014 By Shelley Zurek 59 Comments

Karina Dresses “Tracy” brings the Flowers for Spring

Blog Note: Whoot! I was provided a classic Karina Dresses Tracey for this “Midi Length” review! Midi Lenghth Dresses 2   The Chief Blonde is wearing Karina Dresses Tracy in Aqua Poppy Print ($158), Silver and Turquoise Necklace (similar), Loft Cardigan (similar), Michael Kors Bag($298), Seychelles Shoes (similar).

The Midi, my love/hate relationship

I have a love hate relationship with midi length dresses. I love how they cover my legs, give me that 40s  (as in 1940s) look, and make me feel secure that my butt will always be covered.  The bad part about a midi length dress, for me, is that I often feel swallowed up by it. Also, this length was popular in the mid-80s,  so I am hesitant to bring that era back.

Karina Dresses Tracy, a midi length dress

This Tracy dress from Karina dresses is really the best of both worlds in the land of midi length dresses. It is a midi length but because it’s a t-shirt/sheath cut it looks great without the engulfing nature of most midis.

Kariana dresses Tracy Midi Length dresses

Like all Karina dresses, the Tracy is made right in the USA in Brooklyn, NY! All Karina Dresses are machine washable and wrinkle-free (perfect for spring breaks or summer vacations). I would advise this dress for anyone with an hour glass figure like me!  It was not as fitted around the breast area as many of the Karina styles are.  You can find this dress right now in this print or in some fun paisleys. But hurry, the fabrics are limited and when they are gone they are gone.

Will YOU be wearing the new Midi length dresses this time around?

I love the ruby dresses. Dresses are my go to. I would much rather throw on a dress than a pair of jeans.

I think the dress looks nice on you, but I personally could not wear it because I have huge calves and the dress would hit them at their widest point. It wouldn’t be flattering on me, but, as I said, you look great.

I think the midi is a hard length. It either makes you look great, or like an old lady – but you made me want this dress!! Love it, and the print is so vibrant!

I don’t like midi-length dresses. I think it is because I am only 5″3. I do think the dress looks beautiful on you and I love the colors!

I always feel like midlength dresses make my shins look bigger…..as if that is possible. Maybe the key is the waistline?

I think it is all about proportion. Still, not the easiest hemline to rock. Shelley

I love how you usually cinch the waste to add a little extra depth to your shape. Midi length dresses are a bit too long for me, if I’m going that long I’ll usually go for a maxi shirt.

Yes, I do find the Maxi Length more lengthening to my legs. The Midi when done wrong can be out of proportion!

I am afraid to wear the midi-length because I am only 5’3″ and I’m afraid it will just make me look even shorter. I noticed the one you’re wearing doesn’t come as low on the leg as the midi dresses of the 80s so maybe it would work for me. Love the pattern!!

I’m not fond of midi dresses but I like this dress on you. I think maybe it’s the flowers contrasting with the black background and the sweater that matches so well. You look beautiful. (as always)
