Rain boots are must for any fall season, in almost any state of the USA. It gets chillier and we get rain, lots of rain.
The Story behind Rain Boots
Modern rain boots are derived from a boot popularized by the Duke of Wellington in the early 1800s. Her conceived of a low healed mid-calf leather boot fabricated in soft calfskin leather with very little trim or ornamentation and cut to fit more closely around the leg. The rain boot or “Wellingtons” were soon manufactured in rubber in the 1850s for use by French Farmers who wished to ditch their traditional wooden clogs and return home at night with dry feet!
WW1 and WW2 further popularized the boot for keeping feet dry in the trenches. In the 1955, Hunter boots first introduced green Wellington boots which became associated with “country-life” and barn cleaning. Lady Diana Spenser submitted the Hunter boot and Wellington as a classic when she wore them during a much photographed country outing during her courtship with Prince Charles.

Why pay so much for Hunter Boots? Why High End Rain boots?
The answer to this question is the material in high end rain boots and Hunter Boots is superior. It’s not obvious until you wear a pair of Hunter boots in the rain and contrast them to a low end rain boot. Hunters and other high end boots bend and move. Low end rain boots are often like wearing splints on both legs.

I actually need a new pair of rain boots. I usually go for black because they go with more, and hey, it’s my color. However, those green ones are too cute to pass up.

I have a cheap pair of rain boots and the fit is terrible. I tried on a pair of Hunter boots and fell in love with the fit, but not the color. I’m going to get a pair in a color I love, they’ll last for years.
