Paris Milliner Extraordinaire ($50.00 hardcover, 9780500517314) highlights the life and work of famed milliner Madame Paulette, whose incomparable creations were worn by such film stars as Greta Garbo and Audrey Hepburn, and such royals as Princess Grace of Monaco and the Duchess of Windsor.
The pictures in Hats by Madame Paulette are just stunning. This is not a flip through coffee table book, but an enjoy-every-picture andspend-a-Sunday-afternoon-with-it book. When you view her creations, you will surely agree with Karl Lagerfeld, who said of Paulette:
She was the last of a line of artists of this kind. She had something in her fingers, a magic touch…

Wish I had the nerve to wear hats. I used to. Time to drag them out again. This book would inspire me. Love the cockatoo on the cover.
I’m mad about hats! I would love to pour over the illustrations and imagine that people still wore hats every day.
I think this book sounds pretty interesting. I liked the era that hats like she did were an “it” item and oozed style. Great coffee table book for sure!! 🙂
As my girl says….lol “A stunning account of the life and work of the famed Parisian milliner. With clientele like Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, and Grace Kelly, she set the standard for petite pillboxes and over-the-top chapeaux.” (MarthaStewart.com)
What a delightful book, great for a coffee table…
I have to say that the 1940’s is my favorite fashion time because they wore the prettiest hats. The ones with veils are my favorite!
I love the vintage cover looks awesome.
I love all the pics and history, my daughter would love this book
The pictures, I love seeing old fashions!!
I love all the great illustrations of hats, because I’m a hat person, I never leave home without one.
I did not know that Princess Grace of Monaco and the Duchess of Windsor wore her hats.
are we not to comment about a book about hats? just the mere mention of Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, and Audrey Hepburn … real style never goes out of style
I love vintage fashion photography so I would love to have this book
I LOVE hats and I am looking forward to the illustrations in this book
My daughter has just started making her own clothes this would be a great book for her to see that hats are a fashion statement too.
Madame Paulette was such a pioneer of her time. So stylish in a man’s world. She is absolutely inspirational
This looks like a stunningly good book with some great pictures. Love the positive reviews and that she has experience in the industry.
I like the fact that it covers the forties and fifties (I’m a history major). I also write historical fiction, and this book would be a great resource.
I am french and I feel I was near CoCo Channel in a past life only it was the hats !
I love hats so I find the book would be quite interesting.
For the right person, this would be an excellent gift. I suspect that many women today do not have a proper hat. They may have versions of sport hats or sun hats, but not like Madame Paulette hats.
I have a friend who works with clothes design and she would cherish this book.
