My Wonderful Father is 80 today!
No, that must be wrong! This is a man who wears no glasses, can lift his own weight, and only takes one pill a day! Doesn’t he look more like a 65 year old? (Please say yes, because that would make me 38 and I am all over that number!)
Let me just brag about my wonderful father for a minute. With it being his birthday and so close to Father’s day, I feel like I am allowed to go on and on a bit. Dad was an excavator his whole life with his own business. He worked so hard each day, laying pipe and managing a crew of men. As we are from Michigan, he worked in the hot hot heat and the dead winter cold.
Not only was he a great provider for our family even during hard times, he always had time to play with us and work with us. He and I spent three years down at our barn building soap box derbies and another few months finishing and painting my first big-girl car. We always went snowmobiling and sledding in the winter and spent time shooting in our backyard (an open area) in the summer. My dad would often take my brother and go with his brother and father to the local gun club to shoot skeet. Sometimes, even I would get to go along.

What do you get the “Perfect Father” for his birthday or Father’s day?

I would like to get my husband the Cabela’s Telescopic Panfish Pole. He’s been wanting one.
I like the look of their kayaks, especially the Emotion Guster 10 Kayak. I think my brother and all of us in the family would enjoy owning a few kayaks to use on family trips together.
Since my husband is in need of clothes and right now shorts (which he is picky about), I’d say the Cabela’s Roughneck Dungaree Fit Shorts (since they appear to be denim) and the Epic Denim Cargo Shorts. There are so many other great clothes there as well, but I know he’s been hinting around for the Cabela’s Outfitter 10MP Color HD Trail Camera.
i’d get him a fishing hat because he always goes fishing but comes home looking crazy as hell LOL.. never uses sunscreen or anything. i think he’d wear a hat only if someone gave it to him.

I like to the the guys in my life a new tent large enough for their cots. They are not getting any younger and the ground is getting harder.
My dad would love a new coat, and I think one of the PacLite Parkas with GoreTex would be perfect to keep him warm and dry on his fall hikes.
I would like to get my husband one of the Filson’s Tin Cloth Jackets as he has recently been mentioning them quite a bit. He wants it for hunting this fall.
I would get him a bow, because he loves to go deer hunting. That is about all that he enjoys.
I would get him the Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Skillet and Cabela’s Gourmet Beef Jerky Combo.
I’d probably buy my dad a new tent and some tip ups because he loves to go fishing during the winter time!
My husband would love to have the Kärcher 1,800-PSI Pressure Washer. He has been wanting one.
Father’s day is a tough one for my sons and I as my Dad passed away just over a year ago.. this will be our second Father’s Day without him. He loved Cabelas & would always treat my sons to something nice from there, coveralls, bathtowels, sweaky toys you name it, he loved buying for them and of course for himself too. If we won I’d buy a cute new set of coveralls for each son & something nice for their father as well.
