A 5 cup dessert? Just 5 ingredients? 5 minutes to prepare?
Today’s discussion, for this Grandma’s Super Simple 5 Cup Dessert post, is brought to you by DairyPure Sour Cream.

My Grandma’s recipe for 5 cup dessert (other common names include Sour Cream Dessert or Ambrosia) was a staple at our family holidays. She could whip it up in under 5 minutes. It would often be gone in under 2 minutes when myself and my 7 cousins dug in.
I worked with DairyPure to re-create Grandma’s recipe. I hope you enjoy it as much as my cousins and I did!
I have improved on Grandma’s recipe by using DairyPure Sour Cream as it is is made with fresh cream and milk from their own dairy, with no artificial growth hormones. I also love that I can make the recipe with either variety: All Natural Sour Cream or Light Sour Cream ( PSST: the Light version contains 50% less fat and 41% fewer calories).

This does remind me of the dessert we used to have as kids – so good!
At a loss of words to describe how beautiful these are. Yummy.
Love this simple and yet elegant dish. Would be great to serve at a ladies luncheon.
I love your improved recipe, and would never make it with whipped topping, so never made it. Now I must try this, esp as I’m a huge fan of sour cream, better not make it too far ahead, as there might not be anything left for everyone else.
This is a favorite go to potluck recipe!
Been eating this since I was a kid! Thanks for the memories.
So simple and sweet! Love it
I have made this it seems for years and grew up having Ambrosia ‘salad’ for picnics and get togethers. Its a simple one but oh so good. I know in some versions the coconut was left out but I think hat might have been personal preference. I have also had this with some relatives adding pecans to it.
I love Ambrosio and been looking for a recipe. I havent had ambrosia since I was 5 and 3 weeks ago we had a potluck at work and someone brought this in, the memories hit me like a brick! Thanks for the memories!
This looks so yummy and I will have to try out the recipe 🙂
Reminds me of fruit salads. This is a nice sweet dessert
This giveaway might be over, but the recipe sounds delicious. Will be great to take to my Mexican Train luncheons.
I love this dessert!! So easy to make with only 5 ingredients. This dessert I’m definitely pinning. I’m all for simple and easy. It looks absolutely delicious!
Oh, wow! I haven’t thought about this in years. I loved this as a kid, and I’m sure I still do. I am going to make this for my teenage son. He’s going to love it. Thanks for sharing and bringing back some memories.
Let me know how he likes it JM! The CHief Blonde
I think every grandma makes this! I haven’t had this in years! Such great childhood memories eating this stuff! 🙂
I remember fondly having something like this as kids. It would be fun to make it for the nostalgia!
This sounds really yummy!
This looks quick and easy to make!
