What is the 45th Parallel North?
According to Wikipedia:
The 45th parallel north is a circle of latitude that is 45 degrees north of the Earth’s equatorial plane. The 45th parallel north is often called the halfway point between the Equator and the North Pole.
Driving the 45th Parallel North in the United States
In the US, the 45th parallel crosses 11 states, (Oregon, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine) and would take about 65 hours non-stop to drive, a distance of 3700 miles. What a fun trip to drive!

Just like in Gaylord, MI, along I-75 North, where Walt and I stopped, across the US the 45th parallel North is marked in many places on highways by a sign proclaiming that the location is halfway between the North Pole and the Equator.

I would like the 50 States 5000 ideas book. We love to travel and have been to the 45th parallel in New Hampshire. It’s not far from our home.
I would get 50 States, 5,000 Ideas: Where to Go, When to Go, What to See, What to Do. My son and I are going on a 3 week road trip soon headed South and Southwest and I think that book would be wonderful!

I really like the Lonely Planet Iceland (Travel Guide) because it’s somewhere I’m planning on visiting soon! Sounds like a comprehensive resource 🙂
My husband and I are seniors and our budget is tight, so the book “How to Travel the World on $50 a Day: Revised: Travel Cheaper, Longer, Smarter” appeals to me most.

Destinations of a Lifetime: 225 of the World’s Most Amazing Places because I love finding beautiful destinations on Earth. One of my favorite places to go is a small place in the Mountains that not many people know about. Very peaceful
I would choose Rick Steve’s Paris 2017 because I love to watch his show on TV and I have always wanted to go to Paris to practice speaking French!
I’d choose Off the Beaten Path: A Travel Guide to More Than 1000 Scenic and Interesting Places Still Uncrowded and Inviting. I like to visit places that aren’t “touristy” and see scenic places that aren’t overcrowded with people. Thanks.

I would love Your Guide to the National Parks: The Complete Guide to all 59 National Parks (Second edition) because our goal is to visit all the National Parks one day! We have been to 2 so far, and will be hitting 2 more this year. We have a ways to go!

I would choose the Ultimate travel book because it looks like a good travelling book.
I would choose “Off the Beaten Path: A Travel Guide to More Than 1000 Scenic and Interesting Places Still Uncrowded and Inviting” because that is exactly how I prefer to travel. I don’t like tourist traps or crowded places. I think it’s the saddest thing when a once lovely place to visit is discovered and becomes crowded.
