When: Film opens on demand and digital platforms on April 16th and in theatersMay 17th
Synopsis:
Linda Sinclair (Julianne Moore) is a forty-year-old unmarried high school English teacher in the small town of Kingston, Pennsylvania. She shares a small apartment with two Siamese cats and her rich collection of great literature. She maintains no close personal relationships aside from those she has with her favorite authors and stories. But Linda’s simple life turns an unexpected page when former star pupil Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano) returns to Kingston after trying to make it as a playwright in New York. . Linda can’t stand the thought of Jason giving up on his dreams so she decides to mount his play – a dark, angst-ridden, ambitious work – as a Kingston High School production, with flamboyant drama teacher Carl Kapinas (Nathan Lane) directing.
As Linda, now well out of her normal comfort zone, takes further risks in life and love, the stage is set for highly comic downfall. With the play, her reputation, and her teaching career on the line, Linda finds an unlikely ally in herself. Amidst the ruins of her formerly perfect life, can she find a way to her own unique storybook ending?

Blog Note: The Chief Blonde was uncompensated for this post.
You know, I guess I won’t be seeing any of these. I am still in the stage of watching animated and family flicks with my daughter. I am looking at watching “Lincoln” this weekend.
What a great idea to focus on people “of a certain age.” I am only one year from officially joining your crowd. The Company You Keep looks like a must see for me.
I had no idea that Vera Wang is 63 years old! Amazing, she looks fantastic.
I currently have The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel taped on my DVR. I can’t remember who all is in it, but it has an older cast and looks really good.
I also love watching Hot In Cleveland. I believe that all of the women on that TV show are older than 45. 🙂 Susan Lucci also guest stars occasionally.
I’m kind of looking forward to The Company You Keep, though I am not a Shia fan, I do love Robert Redford. I really think this could be a surprise sleeper this year!
I have never heard of any of these movies but they look intriguing. Thanks for the post! Looks like I have a movie night in the near future!
It’s been SO long since I’ve been to the movies and I must say I hadn’t heard of these films myself but the I love Julianne Moore.
The company you keep looks rather interesting, but I absolutely love Julianne Moore, so I’m leaning more towards the English teacher.
i havent heard about any of these movies i think i need to get out more haha
wow.. ok, um. I guess Scatter my Ashes… but I want to watch them all. I love that it is no longer just “younger is better” mentality in hollywood and advertising!!
Cheers
I am seriously in love with Julianne Moore – she is so awesome
These are really awesome looking movies! I hadn’t heard about a lot of them. I will have to check them out!
Great roundup! I’m going to put these on my list!
Well I don’t really like to think of anyone scattering my ashes…at least not for a few years yet…but that movie sounds like it will be really good.
The others will probably be ok too.
I have to say Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s because one of the stars is my very fav & funny woman, JOAN RIVERS. At 79, she is vivacious, energetic and forever hilarious!
