Charlie a Go-Go, Tops and Tunics For Women over 40
Charlie a Go-Go for gorgeous ladies who have boobs, butts and tummies
“What woman hasn’t at some time in her life struggled to find clothes that fit and make her feel amazing? What lady hasn’t at some time experienced change-room-rage or a flood of tears when trying to shop for something – anything – to wear? Lisa Charles and Quita Leslie, the founders of the new clothing brand, Charlie a Go-Go sure have. As besties out shopping together, ‘West Coast girl’ Lisa and ‘Down Under chick’ Quita saw a real gap in the clothing market for ladies who, like them, have ‘lived life’ and had nothing to wear! This is the key element of the Charlie a Go-Go label. Recognizing that the clothing needs of ladies of a certain age, size and shape were largely being ignored by most mainstream designers and manufacturers, Lisa and Quita finally said, “enough” and set out to manufacture a range of groovy tops and tunics to suit gorgeous ladies who have boobs, butts and tummies.
Charlie a Go-Go Designers & Gorgeous Women over 45: Quita Leslie and Lisa Charles
Primarily designed for women over 40 who wear sizes 12 to 18, the label aims to help their customers feel funky, fabulous and cared for. “Quita and I are both on the other side of 45, and I’ve personally struggled with finding clothes to wear shopping, to the movies and out to lunch”, said Lisa. “At the end of the day, sometimes you have to just jump in and solve a problem yourself. I’m not sure how many clothing manufacturers have had the experience of going into a teary-rage because they couldn’t find clothes that fit, but I have. Incidentally, we don’t call ourselves “fashion designers”, said Lisa, “Quita and I are simply clothing manufacturers working hard to bring something to our ladies that makes them feel listened to and loved.”
Charlie a Go-Go –American Made in Downtown Los Angeles
Charlie a Go-Go’s line is ‘designed’ in Australia and is proudly made in Downtown Los Angeles from beautiful soft and wearable American-made fabric. In their search for factories to manufacture their line, Lisa and Quita, traveled to Indonesia and China, and even considered Fiji as a possible production base. Their year-long search for an ethical manufacturer lead them back to Lisa’s hometown, where quality and ‘heart’ came together. “We wanted our garments to be made somewhere that cares for it’s workers”, said Quita, “and we wanted to give our ladies quality garments that don’t fall apart after three washes.”
Tops and tunics shaped for bodies that have lived a life!
With a vibe reminiscent of the sixties and seventies, Charlie a Go-Go wants women to dump the frump and get their groove back. “Our customers are ladies who were a force to be reckoned with back in the day. They remember what quality clothing was like, they ‘invented’ cut off jeans, tie-dye and disco glam”, said Quita. “They were discovering their love of fashion at that time, and now they want it back in great clothes that are made in their size, and shaped for bodies that have lived life!”
The first release of tops and tunics comprises four gorgeous ‘trans-seasonal’ basics which come in three great workable colors, and four generous sizes. Lisa and Quita have used beautifully curvy American and Australian bodies to make their clothing patterns, not computer software without any heart… or flesh, or soul. They’ve spent a lot of time finessing the fit and finish of their tops so they suit just about all body shapes – it’s like their tops have been tailored just for you.
To celebrate their launch, Charlie a Go-Go is giving away two fabulous tops to one of our lovely US-based readers. They have a great ‘combo’ of the super-flattering “Carly” tummy tank and the versatile “Lola” cardigan to share with you. Seen here in the beautiful Orchid shade, they are also available in a sophisticated Charcoal and a fresh French Vanilla.

The Lola Cardigan in gray so it will go with anything.
Good luck, Polly, and enjoy the fall. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I love them all but I would probably choose the Joni top in charcoal!
We hope you get your choice, Dawn. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I like the Joni tunic in Orchid, it would be perfect to wear for work.
The Joni is great to wear to work. I know this because I’m working and I’m wearing it now! 😉 Good luck, Suzanne. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
Tight fitting clothing isn’t my thing but I’d give these a try! I like them all but wish they came in more colors. First one I’d try is the Joni Tunic in charcoal. I can use some shirts besides t-shirts, which is all I own right now!
Hi Barrie! In our research, we found that most women actually looked slimmer in clothes that were slightly more ‘fitted’ than what they were used to wearing. This was particularly true for the ladies (like me) who were used to wearing t-shirts. Please contact us if you’d like advice on size. We’re more than happy to help get the correct fit. As far as the colors go, we are a new brand and had to start ‘somewhere’. As we grow, so will our color choice. Thanks for considering giving us a try. Enjoy your fall. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I would like charcoal. It is a neutral color but won’t show dirt as much as the French Vanilla
Hi Sandy. Thanks for your comment. Our tops wash well, so don’t worry about getting dirty. We hope our ladies enjoy life in our tops. If that means a bit of dirt, so be it. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I really like The Lola Cardigan, in all colors! I think this would be an amazingly versatile piece for Fall!
I hope you win one, Lauryn, and hop on over to our website (or Amazon) and get the other two! All our tops are on sale while the contest is running. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
My favorite top is the Lola Cardigan in Charcoal! I love the way the sleeves fit tight but the shirt drapes and clings to your curves but hides imperfections.. it’s cute but comfy and I love it 🙂
Hi Becky. Thank you for commenting. The extra-long fitted sleeves on the Lola slim and elongate the arms. It’s a bit of an optical illusion and my favorite thing about the top. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
loving the rhonda vest, cant decide on the gray or the cream , i would love to wear both
We think you’d look great in both, Deb! 😉 Good luck in the giveaway. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I love the Joni Tunic in charcoal for myself. I want the upper arm coverage and coverage for my ample chest.
Hi Gail. So many tops have short sleeves that are just too short (for us, anyway). We wanted our upper arms covered while still having short sleeves. We hope you ladies like this, too. As far as the chest, you can wear the Joni ‘as is’ or you can pop a cami underneath for, say, the office or church for even more coverage. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I like The Joni Tunic because it hides the tummy well. I like it in charcoal and orchid
Thank you for commenting, Sandra. We’re happy you like the Joni. It makes our hard work worth it. Good luck with the contest! 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!! ???????? LOVE IT!!!!
BLESSED BE ????
If we gave away a top for enthusiasm, Katharine, you would be the WINNER! Haha! Love it. Have a great fall. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I love the Rhoda vest in charcoal. I can image how versatile it could be, plus the slit makes it fun and playful! I’ve seen long vests like this all over magazines and websites lately. My friend Jen would love it, too!
One of our beautiful customers said the Rhoda has ‘swishability’ and loves walking around in it and having it flow behind her. Actually, I love doing that too. It brings out my dramatic side. 😉 Thanks for commenting, Katy. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I love the Lola Cardigan in (I can’t tell if that’s black or grey!) Black? And why because I’ve been needing a cute cardigan and this on fits her so nicely! I hope it’d do the same for me 🙂
The Lola comes in charcoal, Maranda, and it will look amazing on you. Good luck! -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I think I would want the Lola. I like the Rhoda too, and while both styles would hopefully cover my large bubble butt and big thighs, I think the duster longer Rhoda would cling to my backside. The Lola would cover what it should cover, but would compliment what it should instead of accentuating what it shouldn’t.
Haha! I feel like I know you now, Deborah! Nothing wrong with a bubble butt and womanly thighs. Me? I’m a muffin top girl with a flat butt and big boobs! Doesn’t matter… we’re all beautiful. If you’d like some advice on whether or not the Rhoda would suit, just send us an email at charlie [at] charlieagogo [dot] com and we are more than happy to give fit and color advice. Hoping your weekend is going well. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
The Joni Tunic Orchid
We like people who are straight to the point. 😉 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I like the The Carly Tummy Tank in charcoal. It would look great underneath a cardigan or sweater. The color (charcoal) would work well with lots of outfits. Thanks.

Good luck, Terra, and thanks for leaving a comment. Love the email address. Sounds like fun. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I like the lola cardigan in gray! I love to wear cardigan’s all year long : )
Hi Megan! We have a lot of ladies like you, actually. I don’t know if I could ever have too many cover-ups, myself. Good luck with the giveaway. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I really like the tunic and would have been all over buying it but it doesn’t come in my size. Bummer. The lavender color is all me. I’ve never been curvy….*sigh*
Hi Patty. Would love to chat with you about sizing and fit, if you’re up for it. You can email us at charlie [at] charlieagogo [dot] com. -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
The The Carly Tummy Tank looks like it would be Very flattering, with the ruching and the seaming!
You sound like you might be a seamstress, Elisse! The Carly *is* flattering. Just make sure that you measure and size the Carly for the tummy and not the chest (there is plenty of stretch for ‘the girls’). For the ruching to do it’s job, it needs to be slightly snug. Have a great Sunday! -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
I would get the Lola Cardigan in orchid and I’d give it to my friend, it looks like something she would wear.
Aren’t you sweet, M.Clark?! That’s very touching. Good luck to you… for your friend. 🙂 -Lisa from “Team Charlie”
