Charlie a Go-Go for gorgeous ladies who have boobs, butts and tummies

“What woman hasn’t at some time in her life struggled to find clothes that fit and make her feel amazing?  What lady hasn’t at some time experienced change-room-rage or a flood of tears when trying to shop for something – anything –  to wear? Lisa Charles and Quita Leslie, the founders of the new clothing brand, Charlie a Go-Go sure have. As besties out shopping together, ‘West Coast girl’ Lisa and ‘Down Under chick’ Quita saw a real gap in the clothing market for ladies who, like them, have ‘lived life’ and had nothing to wear! This is the key element of the Charlie a Go-Go label.  Recognizing that the clothing needs of ladies of a certain age, size and shape were largely being ignored by most mainstream designers and manufacturers, Lisa and Quita finally said, “enough” and set out to manufacture a range of groovy tops and tunics to suit gorgeous ladies who have boobs, butts and tummies.

Primarily designed for women over 40 who wear sizes 12 to 18, the label aims to help their customers feel funky, fabulous and cared for. “Quita and I are both on the other side of 45, and I’ve personally struggled with finding clothes to wear shopping, to the movies and out to lunch”, said Lisa. “At the end of the day, sometimes you have to just jump in and solve a problem yourself.  I’m not sure how many clothing manufacturers have had the experience of going into a teary-rage because they couldn’t find clothes that fit, but I have. Incidentally, we don’t call ourselves “fashion designers”, said Lisa, “Quita and I are simply clothing manufacturers working hard to bring something to our ladies that makes them feel listened to and loved.”

Charlie a Go-Go –American Made in Downtown Los Angeles

Charlie a Go-Go’s line is ‘designed’ in Australia and is proudly made in Downtown Los Angeles from beautiful soft and wearable American-made fabric. In their search for factories to manufacture their line, Lisa and Quita, traveled to Indonesia and China, and even considered Fiji as a possible production base.  Their year-long search for an ethical manufacturer lead them back to Lisa’s hometown, where quality and ‘heart’ came together. “We wanted our garments to be made somewhere that cares for it’s workers”, said Quita, “and we wanted to give our ladies quality garments that don’t fall apart after three washes.”

Tops and tunics shaped for bodies that have lived a life!

With a vibe reminiscent of the sixties and seventies, Charlie a Go-Go wants women to dump the frump and get their groove back. “Our customers are ladies who were a force to be reckoned with back in the day. They remember what quality clothing was like, they ‘invented’ cut off jeans, tie-dye and disco glam”, said Quita.  “They were discovering their love of fashion at that time, and now they want it back in great clothes that are made in their size, and shaped for bodies that have lived life!”

The first release of tops and tunics comprises four gorgeous ‘trans-seasonal’ basics which come in three great workable colors, and four generous sizes. Lisa and Quita have used beautifully curvy American and Australian bodies to make their clothing patterns, not computer software without any heart… or flesh, or soul. They’ve spent a lot of time finessing the fit and finish of their tops so they suit just about all body shapes – it’s like their tops have been tailored just for you.

To celebrate their launch, Charlie a Go-Go is giving away two fabulous tops to one of our lovely US-based readers. They have a great ‘combo’ of the super-flattering “Carly” tummy tank and the versatile “Lola” cardigan to share with you.  Seen here in the beautiful Orchid shade, they are also available in a sophisticated Charcoal and a fresh French Vanilla.

I would like the Joni Tunic in 18 and in black. The top being strech material would fit my arms which are a problem to fit because of their large size,
