Adult Coloring: Stress Less — Get More out of Life

January 18, 2016 By Shelley Zurek

Happy New Year! I am Aiming to Get More Out of Life!

The Chief Blonde is resolving to add more color into her life in 2016! The Chief Blonde is wearing a dress from Monroe and Main, leather boots from Clarks, a vintage necklace, and RayBan sunglasses.

My New Year’s Resolutions: Add More Color

This year I am approaching my New Year’s resolutions in a new way. I adopted a central theme “Add more color” and then I am going to add tips and ideas throughout the year that fit that theme. Here’s my first four:

  • Start traveling more so I can add more color to my world
  • Wear more color in my clothing instead of so much black
  • Add new colorful vegetables to my diet– color in vegetables=more vitamins and nutrients
  • Start coloring as a hobby. Adult coloring has been shown to greatly reduce stress

My New Hobby — Adult Coloring

I haven’t colored in ages have you? The second I heard that adult coloring books were the hottest Christmas trend, I just had to have one. Once I received “The Secret Garden” coloring book for Christmas, I knew I had to incorporate it into my New Year’s resolution of “Adding More Color” or it would fall to the wayside of my busy life.

Use of adult coloring books are known to induce tranquility and reduce stress. After the year I had last year, I sure need those aspects in my life. I attacked my new found hobby with vigor.

One New Thing, Replaces One Old Thing

I find when I dive into something new, I often drop off something that I was doing before. Are you like that too? When I started adult coloring, right after Christmas, I left my Christmas tablecloth sitting in the laundry. I even forgot to pre-treat.

But luckily, I was sent this Clorox 2® Precision pen and a bottle of Clorox 2® Stain Remover and Color Booster. So I used both to pretreat for just ten minutes and threw it into the wash. Mind you, the tablecloth had set for nearly two weeks in my laundry room with stains from wine, barbecued pulled pork and various other Christmas foods. I really didn’t expect anything to get that out of my beautiful tablecloth!

However, little did I know, that Clorox 2® Stain Remover & Color Booster can be used in the wash to keep colors bright and as a pre-treater for stains. I discovered I could not only use it to pre-treat for set-in stains I thought would be there forever, but even stains that have been through the dryer! Clorox 2® even works on tough stains like soy sauce, coffee, grass, wine and grape juice. Oh, and apparently my tough stains too!

I was amazed that two weeks old stains came out so easily. Barbecued pulled pork, grass stains, mud splatter and wine spills…they’re signs of life well-lived. And while you want to delight in the discovery, savor the new skill, or celebrate the accomplishment, you want the stain gone – all gone.  Now I can stress less and get more out of life. Now, let me get back to coloring!
