Trying a New Trend of Neons+Neutrals
The Chief Blonde is wearing: Peplum Shirt Jacket (c/o Carissa Rose $130 ), Rhinestone Cami (Sam’s Club $9), Bermuda’s (The Loft), Vintage Feather and Satin Shoes (Saks Fifth Avenue), Vintage Beads
Did you ever wonder how I get ready for an outfit shoot? Well sometimes, my outfit is motivated by an event I am going to, like my niece’s wedding , other times, I just have something new as a blogger that I want to feature–like this swimsuit (still can’t believe I did that!) Other times, I take up one of Kristina’s Bloggers Do it Better challenges like today.
In preparation for today, I frantically patiently waited for my top to arrive from Carissa Rose, praying just certain that it would arrive on time and fit. So at 3:30 today, the UPS rapped on the door and there it was. I ripped apart my closet trying to put together just the right outfit, fixed my hair, choose my shoes, my accessories and put on my makeup. No supermodel’s life here, however. I laid my outfit aside, made dinner, cleaned up, beg asked my photographer sweetly to take the pictures, put on the outfit and then tried to figure out how to pose (man do I need a stylist, hair and makeup person, and a modeling class!)

After frantically touching up my make-up, we headed outside and took at least 50 shots to get the 7 you see in this collection. Who knew that putting on clothes and getting a few decent shots was such hard work? Maybe if I wasn’t 45+ and didn’t have delete all the ones that made my butt/gut/thighs etc look big it wouldn’t be so hard. Do you younger ladies even worry about that? Oh well, here’s the last few shots….
Took off the high shoes and put on the trusty Oxfords (seen here) and got caught playing with my Nook Color!
My Photographer got me back to work (all photos by Kelly Mackie)
Want to see the accessories a little closer?
Bangles (c/oMango Tree-$20), Slim Sleeve for tablets(c/o Golla. $30), Emerald Studs (c/o Jewelry by Bloom $55), Bracelet (Chief Blonde’s)
And finally the shoes..(Scarf c/o Ford Cares for Breast Cancer Awareness–2009 edition, $20)
So let me know which pose of the Neons+Neutrals was your favorite, and I’d love some constructive criticism too!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I loved the neon+neutral challenge! Your accessories are great. I agree that it’s difficult to get just the right shots for blogs, and it definitely has nothing to do with age–we all have our lumps and bumps and awkward poses!
Michelle, Thanks for stopping in! I hope to see you at more BDIB Challenges! The Chief BLonde!
You look fab! The shoes are my favorite! I love neutrals and neon…the only thing I would suggest is maybe a brighter neon? The colors don’t exactly look neon here, while they are very pretty together. Maybe they just look muted online. Great idea and inspiration.
Stumbled you! My post is beautegras.blogspot.com/2011/06/haute-headbands.html
Beaute Gras, you are right my accessories weren’t very neon. I guess they faded with age (or the wisdom that someone my age would look like a silly-billy in them!)
HAHAHA! The Chief Blonde
Looking sharp, as always. Great photos! Is it your husband that takes them?
