Did my Life get too Cluttered?
Blog Note: I have severely disappointed one of my readers, maybe more and I am sorry. I started this declutter challenge back in Jan., 2011. We had 3 months worth of prizes added to the pile and a nice group of readers jumped on board and participated enthusiastically. Then my life took over (one kid graduating high school out of state plus open house, one graduating college, sick mom, another kid moved out, high school senior went to college, 2 kids got licences, a wedding, a bridal shower, yada-yada-yada! ) Anywho, I let the ball drop on this and I am sorry! Especially to my dear reader who is upset with me. But the challenge isn’t ruined yet…we have this month to get caught up!
So Let’s Catch up!
Anyway the deal was, you were supposed to declutter one item everyday for 365 days. Then you were supposed to give your input every month into how you were doing as your entry and I would add a prize to the pile each month. You guys did an awesome job of commenting in the first three months.

the basement is by far the most cluttered, thats where we stash everything
my husband..and his electronics among other things…hes a horder lol
Did you get rid of 365 things this year?
No, but I like this idea. I think I can do one thing a day. A little late start but still a good goal. thank you
Who stands in your way from decluttering?
ME!
What’s the biggest factor that makes you KEEP something versus throwing it OUT?
Truthfully, mental illness. I have OCD and have hoarding tendencies.
How do you motivate yourself to declutter?
put it on my to do list. but don’t make the goal too big. If it is a whole room then say, I will declutter 20 items in that room today. before you know it DONE
label all your totes and boxes. If you have lots of them keep them alphabetized. This way you can add or remove things from the appropriate tote
Who is the person (s) who cause clutter in your house?
That would have to be both my daughter and myself, but in totally different areas. Me it is paperwork, her it is everything else. LOL
What is your favorite Decluttering Tip?
Use it and loose it! Once you are done with something, don’t hang on to it. Recycle it or throw it away. It doesn’t need to be taking up any more space then it needs to
What area of your home is your CLUTTER HOTSPOT? Why?
My computer desk. It is where I pay my bills, read my mail, heck even do my taxes. I even work here. Isn’t our lives on the computer these days??
What’s your biggest decluttering Challenge in the past year?
paper work. I have ‘piles disease’ when it comes to any kind of paperwork
Our family room is our CLutter hotspot, because it is filled with boxes, some full and some empty were we started packing. It has a bunch of other things also. Basically a dumping room. Headboard, weight equipment, deep freezer, tables, etc.
My biggest de-cluttering challenge in the past year has been my boy’s room.
The kitchen bar counter is the hotspot in our house.
My sewing room is the biggest decluttering issue of the past year.
My dog stands in the way of my decluttering! He likes to “help”, which is not very helpful at all!
I motivate myself to declutter by imagining one of my neatfreak friends are coming over!
