Which Type of Mattress should I Choose?

Which Type of Mattress Should I Choose?

With today’s busy lifestyles, it’s more important than ever to get a good night’s sleep. But
all too often we invest in a new mattress, only to find that it’s uncomfortable or isn’t built to
last. If you’re about to buy a new mattress, read on to find out about the different types of
mattresses available. Once you’re fully informed, you’ll be able to pick the one that’s right
for you.

Continuous Coil

This is one of the cheapest types of mattress you can buy. It’s made from metal springs
which are formed from one loop of wire. As the materials used are often quite cheap, this
type of mattress tends to wear out or break more easily. Because this type of mattress uses
a continuous coil, you’re also more likely to be disturbed by your partner’s movements.

Open Coil

This type of mattress uses individual coils which are joined by a wire, and is usually at the
cheaper end of the spectrum. Although they can provide a good night’s sleep, they can
often prove uncomfortable if you have joint or back problems.

Latex or Foam

Many people suffer from allergies that can be aggravated by dust or dust mites which
collect in their mattress. One solution is to choose a mattress that’s entirely constructed of
foam or latex, helping to reduce the amount of dust and dust mites that you’re exposed to
as you sleep. Having said that, this is one of the most expensive types of mattress you can
buy.

Memory Foam

Memory foam is extremely popular and has proved helpful for people with back or joint
problems as it reduces pressure on joints when you sleep. Memory foam can be very
expensive, but it’s also built to last. Bear in mind that some users find sleeping on a memory
foam mattress very uncomfortable during the summer months. It reduces air circulation
around your body, making it very warm.

Airsprung

This is another popular type of mattress, and is generally more reasonably priced than
memory foam. An airsprung mattress contains metal springs that are sewn into separate
pockets. Each spring acts individually, meaning that it’s an ideal choice if you and your
partner are very different weights or sizes, or if you move around a lot or sleep on your side.
