For the Swine flu virus, the two entry portals are the mouth/throat and nostrils. During a global epidemic, avoiding exposure to and contact with H1N1 is nearly impossible, in spite of the care and precautions that you take. See our article on Swine Flu for more Health Facts.
Simple steps that you can take while you are healthy and without symptoms of H1N1 infection.
1. WASH your Hands!!
2. Don’t Touch you FACE! (Remember entry portals for H1N1 are mouth and nostrils.)
3. Try Gargling 2/day using warm salt water or use Listerine.
4. Try to clean nostrils 1/day using warm salt water. (I think this would hurt!) How? Blow your nose hard 1/day and then swab nostrils with swab that has been dipped in warm salt water.
5. Take Vitamin C combined with Zinc to boost your natural immunity, and eat foods that are rich in Vitamin C. If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.
6. Drink Warm liquids.
