It’s Almost Summer, Discover Boating on Lake Murray!
Picturesque boating on Lake Murray, SC is just part of the fun on this gorgeous lake. 41 miles long and 14 miles wide at its widest point, your eyes will never tire of the wonderful scenery. A popular fishing lake, Lake Murray covers an area of 78 square miles with 649 miles of shoreline. The reason the shoreline is so vast, is the lake was dug with many coves and fingers. My brother has a retirement home on the lake. What impresses me the most is how much fun it is to boat on.
Lake Murray is a reservoir in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is approximately 50,000 acres in size. Although initially constructed in the 1930’s as a hydro- electric generating facility, today it serves as a place for retirement and vacationers (like me!) Lake Murray has become a major recreation destination in central South Carolina. When you are on the lake, you will see boats of every kind. My favorite kind of boat and the one my brother has, is a pontoon boat. That boat is pictured above and it’s known for it’s many varied abilities: one moment a party boat, the next moment a fishing boat, and the next a fun boat to pull tubers or skiers.

WE love boating and doing water sports!! Hubby is a skiier and wakeboarder! He also goes on a jet ski anytime he gets a chance! Thankfully his aunt owns a lake house we go and visit in the summer so we get great water time!! Summers are so short here tho!! We have to live it up while we can!! My son and I like to go for rides and do lots of floating 🙂

Living in both NC and SC I have had many pleasant times on Lake Murray. My uncle used to have a place there with a pontoon boat that we would take out for the entire day! Such fun and great memories for a lifetime.

Being out on the lake is such a fun way to spend summer days. Some of my best memories from my childhood are from when my dad took us out on our pontoon boat.
I grew up on Lake Washington in Washington state, and I love boating on all different types of boats!
We have spent many hours on the water on a pontoon and we still love it. In the 100 degree summer days we have if we are going to be outside I want water to be involved. I agree completely how versatile a pontoon is.

I would love to try water skiing. We go to the lakes and beaches a lot during the summer, and we do go boating and have tried tubing. But water skiing is on my list of activities to do this year.

There’s nothing better than taking a big cooler full of drinks and a big snack bin on out the lake or the ocean and just hanging out all day. It’s such a great way to relax and bond as a family.
I think I’ve been there. We went so many different places in so many different states it’s hard for me to keep track. It was definitely fun to travel around the country!
The only place in SC I have been was Hilton Head, but it was beautiful and I hope to go back some day. I had been visiting Savannah and we drove over to HHI, it reminded me of Hawaii!
Boating teaches so many skills! Patience, perseverance, and problem solving all have to be mastered while on the water. It’s also a wonderful way to relax, away from today’s technology and busy lifestyles.
