1 Million Dollars to Help Communities?

As part of a blogger partnership with  Mom Central, I get to tell you about a fantastic program that is developed and led by State Farm and their Youth Advisory Board. I think it’s wonderful that State Farm is reaching into our communities and finding ways to help all of us, help our communities.  This is the second year in a row of community betterment. The State Farm Neighborhood Assist program seeks to improve communities through three types of initiatives:

  • community development
  • education
  • safety

What kind of Community Projects will benefit?

Just to give you an idea, last’s years winners included programs like:

  • Give the Gift of Music, Education (Neighborhood Assist)

    • Clinton Township, MI
    • Provide musical instruments and music education at no charge to at risk and disadvantaged youth
  • Fair Food Access, Community (Neighborhood Assist)

    • Duluth, MN
    • Lincoln Park Food Access Project aims to create healthy equity
  • Petal To The Rescue, Safety (Neighborhood Assist)

    • Petal, MS
    • Make Petal a safer city by increasing citizen-initiated bystander CPR

still Blonde after all these YEARS The Chief Blonde Remarks: I want all of you to run out and vote each day!!  How  incredible is it to have a company pour this much into local neighborhoods. Who could imagine that 40 communities could have a $25,000 injection into their pet project!  I am a long time State Farm insurance user.  You can’t imagine how proud I am that my insurance company supports these kinds of community efforts.

Recently,  in our hometown we installed a spray park to help kids cool off during summer months.  The park was made possible by many in people and businesses in the community including KID ROCK!  (Yes..he’s a Michigander!)  It has made such a difference to have this kind of fun activity in a park in our community.  State Farm Neighborhood Assist is doing exactly the same kind of community changing activities.

I LOVE State Farm! I used to have them and when I moved to RI they would not serve me here. I actually asked my husband to move to PA- I loved my agent so much!

I think I voted in this last year- is this an annual thing? It’s wonderful to see a charity impact in local communities from such a large chain.
