Sallie’s Greatest Jams Review

December 18, 2011 By Shelley Zurek 201 Comments

Sallie’s Greatest Jams for Holiday Giving Naturally

Sallie's Greatest Blueberry Lemon thyme Jam

Sallie’s Greatest Jam Blueberry Lemon-Thyme $9.49

I have found a wonderful product by another Blonde and Woman over 45, Sallie Dent Porth.  She hails from South Carolina and began her wonderful Jam making business in 2010!  Last year around Christmas time, Sallie learned she had been awarded Garden & Gun’s “Made In The South” title for her wonderous and  uniquely flavored herb and fruit  jams.  With this prominent recognition in hand, Sallie decided to  transition a personal jam making hobby (which she previously only did for her close friends and family) into a wonderful natural new business called  “Sallie’s Greatest.”

To say these Jams are unique is to say the least.  Flavors like Blueberry + Lavender,  Blueberry Lemon + Thyme (my favorite), Blueberry + Lime, Fig Sweet Onion + Rosemary,  Lemon Fig + Basil,  Peach Pepper + Ginger, Peach + Mint, and
Strawberry + Basil are sure to surprise even the most discerning palette!  Believe you me, I was super hesitant to try these small batch jams but was intrigued as well.  Sallie  selects the freshest best tasting produce and herbs to put in her Sallie’s greatest jams, choosing those that are seasonally available.  The flavor combinations frankly scared the crap out of me.  BUT HEY!  I watch Chopped on a regular basis, I can be adventurous right? I am sure glad I was.  The combinations of flavors are astounding!  With the Blueberry Lemon + Thyme, you first taste the Blueberry and then immediately the Lemon and then the Thyme lingers on your breath.  It makes eating Jam interesting!

Sallie offers up all kinds of recipes to use with her jams, because as you can tell from the combinations..these jams aren’t “just for breakfast”!  Sallie calls this concept, “all-day jams”.  You can use these jams  to enhance Panini Sandwiches and gourmet cheeses. You can find all Sallie’s jams and her recipes to use the jams with at  www.salliesgreatest.com.  Sallie is  also shooting to write a cookbook that include all of her delicious jam recipes.

I’m not one to ‘mix it up’ too much. Keep it simple.
