I Challenged Myself with the Revlon Expression Experiment

While on vacation this past week, I took the Revlon Expression Experiment trying makeup products and colors that I had never experienced before. Revlon is looking to inspire women and push them out of their comfort zone by actively engaging them in new expressions. The products that I had the opportunity to sample included:

For Nails:  Revlon ColorStay nail polish in an exciting blue color (Indigo Night) coupled with ColorStay top and base coats

Revlon Colorstay Indigo Blue Nail Polish

_______________

For Getting Photo Ready: Revlon PhotoReady Color Correcting Primer and the PhotoReady Eye Primer and Brightener Revlon Primer face and lip

______________________________

For Lips: Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick  in Certainly Red, ColorBurst Lip Butter in Cherry Tart (not shown), and ColorBurst Lipgloss in Fire.

Revlon Color Stay lipstick and gloss

___________________

For Eyes:  16 Hour ColorStay in Bombshell and Inspired 4 Palette pack ColorStay 16 hour eye shadow

Check out my Video Review to See What I thought of each Product and Which is my Favorite! But more importantly see how I surprised myself by trying new makeup to enhance my looks.  Sometimes you have to Experiment!

I felt so empowered when I got done.  I had actually tried new shades and products of makeup.  We all get stuck in that makeup rut don’t we.  Just sticking with what we know…and not experimenting with new things.  What do you think, how did I do?  Which products do you think you might like to try?

This is such a fun idea! I will sometimes buy cheaper makeup in a color I don’t normally wear just to try something new. We all need to “play” sometimes. Today would be a good time to do it. It’s National Lipstick Day! What color would you like to try? I stick to pretty much neutrals but my daughter is trying to “brighten” my color palette.

Sherry, I like Pinks and blue/reds. But orange/brown tones work for me if I can find the right one…very hard to find. Shelley

I understand that. So many tones, and you don’t know which one you’ll like on you until you buy and try it. Once I find one, I stick with it.

We do get used to wear the same makeup day after day; great to change things up with different colors. I like Revlon blush and know they make good products. I will have to try changing up my neutral shadows for more color. The red looks really good on you.

I agree, it is fun and necessary to experiment. Your lips color is beautiful as are you 🙂

I love the red on you. I’ve never liked my lips so I tend to wear pinks and sheers, but now I’m wondering if I could pull off that red (I also need the blue undertones).

The eye shadow would have completely put me off (YELLOW?!?), but it looks very good on you. Hmmmm.

I do think we should step out of the box. Nothing is more boring than wearing the same make-up every day. I think a lot of women find a look when they are 16 or 17 and then seem to wear the same damned thing for the rest of their lives, even after it goes out of style or no longer looks good on them.

Thanks for reminding us to challenge ourselves and don’t get stuck in that same old rut.

Saw that blue nail polish at Target the other night. I thought i was too old. My kids (all boys) thought it would be great for me…

I have rather boring everyday makeup. I have been experimenting with a red lip as well, but I can’t find the right shade for my skin.

Loved the video – way to go on that one!!
I am not into these kinds of reds – I do either light pink or darker cherry tones, but once again – I am under 50 🙂

I love all of those colors, and the ones you chose look great on you! That lip color looks fantastic! Revlon has some of the best lipsticks for the price, I think. I’ll have to check out that gloss too… looks like another great color.
