Choosing a Red Lipstick
Recently, I have been loving red lipstick! I used to be a light copper/coral kind of girl but I simply cannot find the color anymore (sad face). Now, there is a lot of advice out there regarding red lipstick such as:
- Don’t wear a dark red, it makes thin lips look like lines
- Don’t wear red over 50
- Don’t wear red in tropical climates or in the summer
Seriously, it’s all nonsense. You need to try on red lipsticks for fall 2015 with your clothing and pick the shade that portrays the personality you are trying to project at that particular moment!
Once you have settled on a shade, you need to chose a formulation and a brand. Gloss versus Matte? Drugstore versus Luxury? Long Wearing? High Pigmentation?
Buying Red Lipstick Fall 2015
I find the best way to find a favorite shade is to just try about 7 or 8 different brands in a hue near to your desired shade. Sometimes you can swatch in the store, but in truth, lipstick is all in the “wearing”. That’s what I recently did when I was shopping for red lipstick Fall 2015.
I found a great new site called Splender which allows me to get cash back for every purchase I make from over 800 popular stores. The process for using Splendor is insanely simple.
By scoping out lipstick recommendations of my favorite Youtube beauty bloggers (Pretty Shiny Sparkly, Hot and Flashy, and Grav3YardGirl), I settled on various drugstore and upscale brands of red lipsticks that I wanted to try. I just entered the chosen stores on the Splender site that carried those brands.
And guess what? I got 4% back on my purchases from Walgreen’s and 10% back from Sephora!
I also like how I can stack cash back, coupons, & offers to increase my savings (Example: 15% off sale at the store+ extra 30% off store coupon + 5% Splender cash back = BIG SAVINGS). For example, on the Wet and Wild Lipstick I bought from Walgreen’s, they were having a buy-one/get-one deal. So in addition to my 4% Splender cash back, I still got to claim that Walgreen’s deal too! Look at all the gorgeous red lipsticks I was able to pick up! Very excited to try them all and the cash saved is a real bonus.
Psst!
You should probably also know that on top of all the savings, Splendor is simple and easy-to-use. You can quickly find stores without being bombarded with irrelevant ads and links. Plus, it’s free to join and use for all your online shopping.
Wow, Splender is paying me to shop for something I was going to buy anyway! There’s nothing like scoring a great deal! I got an email from Splender right away about my Walgreen’s purchase cash back($1.19 back!) Somehow my Sephora order did not get recorded, but Splender has a very simple form to fill out should that snafu happen to you. I will receive $7.10 back from my Sephora order! Imagine $8.29 cash back in total on top of any coupons, specials, store sales, etc. available!
My red lipstick Fall 2015 look is ready now and my pocketbook is smiling now too!

I don’t know why but I have always been afraid to wear read lipstick and now that I am over 50 I’m really afraid to try it. I don’t have what I consider pretty lips, they aren’t very full and due to a scar they are uneven. So I’ve always stayed with lighter shades.

Red lipstick makes thin lips look like lines, that’s hilarious! I don’t wear red lipstick, but I think you should wear whatever color you want, or whatever looks good on you.

I never have been able to wear red lipstick. On some women it looks gorgeous but on me, it looks tacky.

Loving the red lipstick! I don’t usually wear it because I always end up smearing it across my face when I do LOL.
