The Life of a Busy Pharmacy Student

One of the proudest day of my life was when my son, Ben, started his pharmacy studies. The day was marked by the traditional “White Coat Ceremony” where pharmacy interns are given their white coats. I can cry right now just remembering the day! It marked the end of one long academic climb for him and the start of another, to even loftier heights with the final summit being a Doctorate in Pharmacy.

The one thing I have noticed about pursuing a Doctorate in Pharmacy, is that the students have NO TIME! There is endless classes, labs, internships, and studying. Here’s a peek at his fall schedule for his third year of the program:

• Up at 5:00 am
• 5:30am–6:30 am Work out
• 6:30-7:00am Eat, shower, shave
• 7:00am–8:00am Drive to school and get ready for classes
• 8:00am–1:00pm In classes and labs
• 1:00pm–11:59pm Depending on day either go home and study OR  go to internship
• 12:00 am Sleep
