O, The Oprah Magazine celebrates 25 seasons of Oprah
The upcoming issue of O, The Oprah Magazine includes a special section that celebrates 25 unforgettable seasons of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” The June issue hits newsstands Tuesday, May 17th.
Among the several pages dedicated to the show’s farewell, one story features Oprah’s most trusted style advisers – O Magazine Creative Director Adam Glassman and Oprah’s show stylist for the past six years, Kelly Hurliman.
Adam and Kelly take a trip down memory lane to look back at a quarter century’s worth of Oprah’s fashion history. The two fashion experts revisit the highs and lows of Oprah’s wardrobe – 9 looks in total.
Wardrobe hit: Celine red suit
“That is my all-time favorite! It was from Michael Kors’s last collection for Celine. Oprah wore it for the season premiere in 2004, the Pontiac giveaway.
“Gayle and the producer came to us right before the show started and said, ‘We don’t think she should wear that. It’s not fun enough. Oprah said, ‘I love this suit, it’s the right look, I’m not changing.’ She knew everyone in the audience would be receiving a key ring with a red bow. When that picture was shown around the world, of her sitting on top of the car in the red suit, it was brilliant.”
Wardrobe miss: Long yellow jersey dress
“And then there was the infamous ‘after-school outfit.’ Between tapings she always put on something really comfortable. But instead of sweatpants, this time it was a long dress.”“She felt cute in her schmatte and wanted to know why she couldn’t do the next show that way. ‘I’m comfortable I feel like me.’”
Well Still Blonde after all these YEARS readers, do you like Oprah’s red suit? Hate Oprah’s yellow schmatte?
I personally don’t mind the yellow schmatte…of course I think Oprah is such a beauty that she’d be stunning in a paper bag….

I love her red suit! I think it’s a power suit and cut well and a bit of sexy but not too much…just an overall lovely suit and very flattering on Oprah. 🙂
The schmatte, though I am not big on the color I think she looked nice in the color and it flatters her and she looks so comfortable in it 🙂
I also agree she would probly look stunning in a paper bag. Her presence and the way she carries herself speaks volumes. 🙂
AHHH. I lived in Chicago when she started her show. I loved her then and I love her now (but I don’t watch her show now) !

I love her too! I don’t watch at this time either, as I don’t have TV.
I was at my mom’s last week and turned on the TV and saw a bit of the end of one of her shows and I realized then how much I miss watching her and her shows.
It’d be lovely to get her shows in a DVD set. Maybe it wouldn’t sell well but it’d be nice to have that option.
The show I caught the end of was about previous shows of hers that were an Aha moment to others who were watching or touched them in some way. I cried at a couple of the recaps of previous shows.
That is one thing I have always loved about her shows. I always take something away from it. Even if it’s only a smidgen of info or insight or just plain laughter oor delight in something; I always left feeling I had gained something.
I will miss her!
