One Woman’s Breast Cancer Journey & the paths of her supporters
This “One Journey Many Paths” discussion is brought to you today by Saint Agnes Hospital
“One Journey Many Paths”
The concept behind “One Journey Many Paths” is based on an inspirational video which shares a breast cancer journey from the perspective of the patient’s husband, daughters and friends. Today, we’d like to bring you the story of Tami Scovitch, a breast cancer survivor. When Tami received her breast cancer diagnosis, she started on a new beginning. The journey brought Scovitch to the Saint Agnes Hospital Cancer Institute and brought her family closer together.
Scovitch came to Saint Agnes after finding a lump on New Year’s Day 2013. The results of her mammogram and biopsy showed that she had breast cancer. The comprehensive team of specialists at the Saint Agnes Cancer Institute quickly met with Scovitch, her husband Tony, and their two daughters, to present a treatment plan for the next six months to a year and answer all the questions they had. That plan included heavy doses of support from Scovitch’s family and friends.
“It was my journey,” Scovitch said. “But others walked with me.”
Please take a moment to watch and listen to the poignant reactions of Tami’s husband, daughters, sister and a member of the volunteer firehouse, where Tami was President of the Auxiliary. It’s a lovely tribute. The video “One Journey Many Paths” serves to highlight how Tami’s diagnosis made a change in each of their paths and they learned to cherish each moment together during Tami’s journey.
Realities of Breast Cancer:
The reality is this:
- There is no way to prevent breast cancer — but through regular mammograms and at-home self exams, it can be caught early, which is a woman’s best chance for survival.
- Who is affected? Mostly women age 40+, with the majority of diagnoses being given to women age 50+.
- 79% of new cases and 88% of breast cancer deaths occurred in women age 50 and over.
Saint Agnes Comprehensive Breast Center at Saint Agnes Hospital presents highly recognized physicians at the forefront of advanced techniques, equipment and clinical trials. They have developed a microsite called “One Jouney Many Paths”, which is meant to encourage women and their family and friends to understand breast cancer, talk openly about the disease and make breast health a priority.

I would like to win this giveaway for my friend because she is a survivor and this would help with her recovery.
Tami’s path affected me the most.
I would like to win this for a dear friend who has successfully beaten breast cancer for the second time.
I was most moved by Kristin and her brave struggle to support her mom through such a tough battle.
I would love to win this Vitamix for my aunt. She is a Survivor and her determination and grace in the face of adversity has been an inspiration to me.
Tami’s story was very touching. I have a daughter and the thought of being a mother and watching your child go through this is heartbreaking.
I think this is a great idea for a giveaway, my neighbor is a survivor for 3 years.
I would love to win this for my best friend’s mom!
Tami Scovitch was very loved by her friends and family. She’s a very courageous woman. I thank her and family and friends for sharing her journey with breast cancer. It’s affects so many of us. My grandmother passed away from Breast cancer. I was a young mother at the time and her journey impacted me in an extreme way. She was a very good and strong woman. Thank you!
Tami’s daughter Kristin, I too have a mother fighting!
The whole video is emotional and hits home. My moms had breast cancer and I’ve had melans and know how difficult the situation is. I relate with the daughter as I was going through my mom having breast cancer.
I don’t know of any one individual I most identify with, they’re all so positive. A husband for 30 years to the same woman myself, if there’s anyone I can identify with more, it’d be the husband.
Ya know what, I’ve wanted a vitamix for some time, so I might as well nominate myself as the survivor. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with a small mass in the left boob. Funny, I’m a guy, it was removed and after biopsy told that it did indeed contain pre-cancerous cells. The edges were clean and they are certain they got it all. Now I’m right there in the class of middle aged women getting mammograms on a yearly basis. Nice huh, but on the bright side, it does qualify me for a vitamix 🙂
I would love to win this for my aunt who had breast cancer.
Her daughters was most touching
I’d like to win this for my sister who is a survivor.
I would like to win this giveaway for my wife, as she has an auto-immune disease. Eating a healthy diet and having some great tools like a Vitamix is key to keeping her immune system stable and helps her to fight off sickness.
My cousin and one of my closest friends are both survivors 🙂
Toni’s husband really touched me when he said that she didn’t look the same, but she is still the same person on the inside.
I would love for my best friend since junior high school to be the winner, she just had what we hope is her last surgery since having a double mastectomy 2 years ago. She’s amazing, helping take care of her 3 nephews this would really make life easier in the kitchen
