Julia Child : What I am Reading Now!
I have recently been reading books about Julia Child. She is truly an inspirational woman. As a woman, who started her most noteworthy career after the age of 40, Julia Child is to be admired. Women over 45 and women of all ages can realize that you can always have a second act! (Or a third or fourth if need be!) I think its important for women to study other women so we can realize their knowledge and intelligence. Here’s the Julia Child books, both biographies and autobiographies, that I have read thus far:
My Life in France by Julia Child
Backstage with Julia: My Years with Julia Child by Nancy Verde Barr
Julie and Julia by Julie Powell
Julia Child: A Life by Laura Shapiro
And to be read soon: Appetite for Life by Noel Riley Fitch; Mastering the Art of French Cooking (I&II) by Julia Child, Loisette Bertholle, and Simone Beck
What Piece of Wisdom have you learned along the Way?

These are some great quotes – I have found that the older I get the less I give a darn about what others think, sure wish I had known this when I was younger. Here’s a quote that I just love- Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. It’s attributed to Dr. Seuss but some say that is false. Wherever it comes from, it is a quote to live by, imo.

I have noticed that now that I am menopausal my anxiety can go off the charts. Such as if our dog barks at the neighbors. I am learning I need to sit down and take deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

That’s great you found a solution Kathy. I need to take my estrogen at that point. I feel like I could peel the skin off the top of my head. Shelley

I don’t have any one piece of wisdom, but I have a sister 11 years older than me, and seeing her go through things that come as you get older gives me the encouragement to keep at it!

Interesting for sure. I think things change even more as you have gone through it . Being well over 45 and having experienced it, I like the quotes. I had most symptoms in the winter (hot flashes) which wasnt an entirely bad thing.

I have learned over the years that it is okay to be yourself.
