Two Graduations in Two Days
Where did the time go? You can see the memory walls above of my son (25) and my daughter (23). My son has progressed from baby to toddler to a student to a black belt in Karate to a DJ to a college student to a soon-to-be graduating pharmacist (that’s 20 years of school folks!) My daughter has transitioned from a darling little infant to a curly headed toddler to a student then a semi-pro ballerina to soon-to-be graduating graphic designer.
In early May, my two children will graduate within two days of each other, my son with a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from Wayne State University and my daughter with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor in Hospitality Business (that’s two degrees people!) from Michigan State University. That’s a lot of accomplishments over a short life time. So a mother really has to think when considering what graduation gifts to buy them!
What gifts makes the BEST college graduation gifts?
When considering graduation gift ideas, I have the following criteria:
- The gift must be a lasting memento reminding them of their accomplishment
- The gift needs to be of high value but not break the budget
- Affordable enough that it can be incorporated into a bigger budget gift if desired (paired with a trip, a camera, etc.)
- Should be an item that shows the graduate how proud you are of them
- Should be an item that highlights the years of extreme sacrifice and when viewed over the years will bring back that feeling of extreme pride
I settled on college diploma frames for my graduates
Church Hill Classics sent us these stunning diploma frames so you could see the best college graduation gifts for my graduates. My daughter received a Michigan State University diploma frame. You will note it is double diploma frame (as Kelly will graduate with two degrees). My son received the Tassle Edition Wayne State University diploma frame. Both frames have Conservation UV protection and Reflection Control glass.
In choosing Church Hill Classics diploma frames, I figured that after all of the time and money spent by myself, their dad and them earning that degree, their diplomas should not end up in a drawer, forgotten about, or even destroyed!
Did you know that in a recent survey, The Motherhood found that nearly 70% of respondents never framed their diplomas!
Watch my children’s reactions as they receive their diploma frames:

What a great gift for a graduate. My husband’s diploma is nicely matted & framed. Mine not so much.
I love the framed diplomas. My Son is graduating College this year. I will have to do this with his diploma.
I loved your video, and I completely agree, a diploma should be cherished and proudly displayed. That isn’t something the average graduate is thinking about as they prepare to walk that line! These frames are gorgeous and I love how they are personalized with the University name!
Such a lovely way to frame their degrees. Congratulations to your children and to you.
PS. My goddaughter is at Michigan. She loves it there
Thank you for sharing your memories with us. It’s always fun to see everyone’s memories. I would love to have all diplomas framed. I wish I would have framed mine for graduation from school too.
Wow I could not imagine more than one kid graduating at once! My oldest is 10 I do not look forward to it, time goes by so fast.
These are really cool! Much better than the $2 frame I bought at Walmart. I am going to have to try and get me one of these.
College diploma frames are always great grad gifts. They will always know where their diploma is when they need it.
I love gifts that have special memories behind them. And diploma frames are great! It’s really the only way to display them and after all the work to get to graduation … they should be displayed! Great gifts!
Wow!! What accomplished kiddos you have!! You must be so super proud!! I love these frames! Great way to show off their accomplishments and keep them in perfect condition forever!!
My daughter graduated in 2014, but I haven’t had her diploma framed. She would love this!
I love the idea of a gift that can actually be appreciated and used instead of something that just takes up space in their new lives after graduation. A frame is a great gift idea!
Congratulations! 2 in 2 days! How overwhelming! You’re right, choosing the right diploma frame is important for their glory wall!
I love these gift ideas!! I know a lot of people with degrees that don’t even display them.
First off, congrats to the grads! Second….WAY TO GO MOMMA!!
They grow up so fast, don’t they?! I am now left to wonder what my boys will decide to be when they grow up. Ah, warms my heart 🙂
Thanks Sofia! I am super proud of them. The Chief Blonde
Wonderful memories, thanks for sharing. I think a frame is a thoughtful gift and these look beautiful. Thanks for the coupon code and a chance to win! Sharing!
I do wish I had taken the time to frame mine. Now I don’t even know where it is!
I agree with you, a gift for a college graduate should be a “forever” gift – something that keeps as a momento to remember all the hard work. The frames that you chose are really beautiful and elegant. Congratulations to both of the graduates!!
The best time to frame a diploma is upon graduation or else it is likely to get rolled up & stashed. You have two high achievers you worked hard for their education & degrees. All proud & I’m sure they will be hung as soon as they have an office.
Congratulations to your children! What great accomplishments! I hope they are proud; I bet you are. The frames look very nice. That double one is a neat idea. I hadn’t thought about a frame like that.
I surely am proud Sherry! The Chief BLonde
