Age is an consideration when choosing High Heeled Sandals
When choosing Designer Shoes, especially when choosing High Heels that are Sandals, Women over 45 need to consider various factors, but first and foremost, always keep your AGE in mind.
Don’t try to be a Cougar
Unless Cougar (an older woman who tries or does attract younger men) is the look you are going for…choose shoes that were designed with elegance, class and grace. Choosing High Heels is an epecially big challenge! Designer Footwear is often designed to be rebellious, attention getting and leading edge. It is often modeled on runways by very very young girls. What looks good on a nubile 18 year old DOES NOT often translate to Women over 45. This hold especially true for High Heeled Sandals.
I would advise choosing looks like this:
The shoes above (Balenciaga, Fendi, MaxMara) represent a timeless, classy look, which is current but age appropriate.
The high heeled sandals above (Camilla Skovgaar, Cesare Paciotti, Fendi) are better left for the slinky model type as they are, IMHO, too high, too sexy and way too complicated for a Women over 45.
Don’t try to be a 12 Year old
Cuteness is a relative term. You can still be over 45 and wear “Cute” high heeled shoes but be careful of stepping too far over the line with an inordinate amount of color, bows, or ornamentation. I would recommend the following styles when going for cute!
Here’s some styles that I would leave to the younger set:
These Styles are just TOO much (Nina Ricci, Giuseppe Zanotti, Pollini), in my opinion for a Women over 45 to carry off. Simple and more classic is a far better choice.
Additional items to consider when choosing a Designer High Heeled Sandals,
1. Age of wearer and any ailments that might affect the height of heel that you can wear
2. Outfit you are wearing
3. Length of time you will be wearing the heel
Here’s a few more of my favorite High Heeled sandals for Women over 45:
(Casadei, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chie Mihara)
