Holiday Anniversary Gifts — Celebrating your Special Day during the Hectic Holiday Season?

Holiday Anniversary Gifts — How do you celebrate when another celebration is under way?
Our wedding anniversary falls during the hectic holiday season. It’s hard sometimes with four kids, parents, sisters and brothers, etc. to focus on each other and remember to buy each other special gifts and make a lasting memory. This year we are having the ENTIRE family over for Christmas, just two days before our anniversary. When I say ENTIRE, I mean 30 people! Now, I love these people with all of my heart, but the last thing I want to do two days after this family celebration is try to create another memory. I do want to create the memory…I just don’t necessarily want to create it all myself.
Experiences as a Holiday Anniversary Gift #FinishMyList
Once a year, Walt takes me on a “Mystery Trip”. I never know where I am going, eating, or sleeping until we get there (not so different from a usual day!) He plans every little detail. It is a delicious and exquisite experience because I don’t have to do ONE SINGLE THING…except for get in the car and smile. We never do anything too exotic or expensive, it’s the surprise and experience that makes it so much fun.
That’s exactly the kind of gift I wanted to give Walt. Not necessarily a tangible gift but an experience! Without a lot of time to plan ( our son is getting married this weekend..eekk!), I went online to the Mastercard Marketplace for some “experience” ideas.
Entering My Zip Code for Local Offers was Easy
I was able to choose from many different kind of experiences that we both might enjoy from categories such as Food & Drink, Sports & Recreation, Arts & Entertainment and more.
The first experience I considered was a mediterranean restaurant in a cute town near our home. Walt and I want to cruise the Mediterranean when he retires (okay..we can dream can’t we?), so I thought this might be a fun way to experience a taste of that future dream. A neat way to create an gift experience right? But when I clicked through to buy the offer, the reviews on the restaurant were terrible. I decided against this! I didn’t want my Holiday Anniversary Gift to be a BAD experience. Thank goodness for those reviews on the Mastercard Marketplace.
The next experience that looked interesting was this adorable horse farm called Shimmering Moon Farm in Emmett, MI. This little town was a place that I knew that Walt nor I had ever been. The picture made it look so charming. What a great price, 50% off horseback riding. Unfortunately, I remembered the last time Walt went horseback riding, he was given a horse that was way too small for him..I think he almost killed it. Umm..maybe not horseback riding.
I just kept looking, it was great fun checking out all the offers and so much easier than schlepping around a mall. Oh Wait! What is this? The Historic Holly Hotel in Holly Michigan? Does that front porch look familar? (See the wedding pictures above) Exciting! Yes, the Holly Hotel is the venue where we got married and had our reception. There is even a great deal. We can get a $25 gift certificate for $10 and use it almost any day or time we want. Gaahhhh!! Now this will be an exciting experience for a Holiday Anniversary Gift! Click…Agree to conditions…pay with my Mastercard…Done! #FinishMyList

What an adorable idea!! Your husband will absolutely love that.
What a beautiful couple! Congratulations on your 14-year anniversary. You haven’t changed a bit! For a moment there I thought you had just recently got married. You look amazing!
